....that allows the bride to hand cancel her own invites (preferably in nassau or queens). I know this is technically not allowed, but I have heard that some smaller post offices will allow the bride to do this.
I called one place and they told me they will do it, but at their convenience. I don't want to leave them there and run the risk that the postal workers forget about them and they never get sent out.
Thanks ladies!

What do you mean it's technically not allowed? You can't request to hand cancel them yourself? Or you can't request that they be hand canceled?
I'm not leaving my invites there to get canceled at their convenience. NO WAY!

I believe the public is not allowed to do the hand cancelling themselves (i.e., a postal worker has to do it), but of course you can request it.

smaller offices do it. I personally didn't care so I had them do it. Being most folks won't even look at the envelope.

Instead of the invites going through the machine (risking the chance of damaging them) you can hand cancel them..dont ask for details, thats all I know lol

You know that red circle stamp that says the date your mail was sent that you see on the right hand corner over the postage stamp? That's what hand canceling is when the nice people at the post office allow you to do this for yourself, so they will be neat are orderly. HTH!

The one in Kew Gardens, the best part is that mon-fri they are open until 7pm, and on saturdays 4pm...Another great thing is that i went to a few post offices to get the dove stamps and they didnt have them, and they actually did
