Recommendations for San Fransico vacation...

I've been posting a lot about vacation ideas... FI lived in California (Dana Point) for 4 years...and he wants to take me to CA soon (I've never been),

I really want to go to San Fransico, and ideas for hotels (besides the usual 4 Seasons, etc. ) or B&Bs?

I live just south of San Francicso. Do you want to be in the city or Napa/Sonoma?

I 'highly' recommend the Cross Roads INN in Napa. It is a really nice B&B every room has it's own balcony with amazing views. The in room breakfasts are amazing! Very nice people own it!

I lived in SF for 10 years!!! It's an amazing city!
The Mark Hopkins or the Fairmont are beautiful and right on the hill w/ gorgeous views. The trolly stops near there, easy to get to fisherman's warf and downtown.

My brother and SIL just went there for a vacation in July! They had an amazing time. They went up to Napa Valley and toured San Fran-drove over the golden gate in a convertible! anyway-they stayed @ THE W hotel and LOVED it-they can't wait to go back! They couldn't say enough about it!
