Love greg and lauren by Greg Manning
(it's a husbands emails that were sent everyday to his friends and family to keep everone informed about his wife Lauren who was burned over 80% of her body on 9/11. )

Amoung the hero's
(Its a story about all the passangers on the highjacked plane tha crashed in a field in PA)

I cant remember the tile but its a book by Dennis Smith.
Its about all the fireman on 9/11. It has pictures and has little interviews with the various fireman that were there that morning and what they saw. It has interviews with firemen that were trapped. A real tearjerker.

Re: Recommendations for Storyboard

Do we want to create a full 6-month schedule? I, personally, don't like 9/11 stories as I was in NYC that day and am still very senstive about it.

Why don't we pick one biography/autobiography, one classic, one 'fluffy' yet meaningful, and one much deeper book. That way people can start to get stuff out of the library (or get on the lists), get a shipping discount if they buy them all together, borrow from friends etc... Plus we will have different types of books to keep everyone interested.

Michelle,
Great Idea!!!

As for biographies, here are my suggestions (or the ones i want to read soon)

Youll never eat lunch in this town again by Julia philips... heres a book description

Oscar-winning producer Julia Phillips's work on Taxi Driver, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and The Sting made her famous. This is the memoir that made her infamous-a downfall chronicle of a private hell that could only have been written by someone with nothing left to lose.

Also, anything on JFK Jr. (the movie last night has me intrigued!!

I read the Michael J. Fox bio and I thought it was great. It is just a suggestion IMO.

Michelle, I was running late that morning and was suppose to be in the towers. I also lost a family friend in the towers. I am very sensitive to 9/11 info, but those books are very moving and very motivational. The book Love Greg and Lauren talks about how such a horrible situation this woman found courage and had so many people rooting for her. She is a true inspriation.

A few ladies may find the books interesting. The other 2 books really give you a sense of what was going on that morning from all different angels. We all have our stories, but those 2 really give you an inside look.

Im with Michele...no need for me to get an inside look at 9/11, I already have all the information I could possibly need about it by living here. I will just sit that week out.

I also vote for no 9/11 books. I agree they could be inspirational, but I look to books for an escape. I really don't want to face that reality all over again. JMO.

Re: Recommendations for Storyboard

I suggest The Weight of Water and The Last Time They Met - both by Anita Shreve.

Also HIGHLY suggest a prayer for owen meany - one of my all time faves.

I would like to do a children's lit book also - maybe Alice Through the Looking Glass, Watership Down, Harriet the Spy....

For a childrens lit book, perhaps Anne of Green Gables, or Little Women( my all time fave book)

well dont knock them till you read them...JMO!

Also Report from Ground Zero which was written by Dennis Smith was a NY Times best seller. Dennis smith has written another book about ladder company 88 which was about the time he was a fireman in hells kitchen.

Re: Recommendations for Storyboard

Anne of Green Gables should be required reading for a parent to their child! It is a wonderful book about overcoming the odds and beliefing in yourself.
I would LOVE to read Watership Down.
But remember, we need to pick books that we can discuss. Some books, while great to read, do not really lend themselves to discussion. For instance, while I can enjoy reading a James Patterson book, it doesn't really make you think about life, situations etc...It is a good read but not good for a book club. JMO
