FH and I are doing a cruise to Alaska for our honeymoon. We've only been on one other cruise with Norwegian Seas...and we though it was just okay.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I think the lines available to alaska are:
Celebrity Cruises Princess Holland America Carnival Norwegian Seas Royal Carribean
There are two more luxury lines that we can't afford Regent and Silverseas...so they're out.
Our main preferences are cleanliness and good food.
thanks!

Re: Recommended cruise lines?
i work in travel- so have been on almost all of those (except celebrity)- I highly recommend Princess and Carnival.
ETA- I know a lot of people think that Carnival is a budget cruise line & it is in the Caribbean- but it is MUUUUCH different out of the caribbean- i have been on it for europe & alaska and was blown away by the service, food, etc.

I've never been on the other cruise lines you mentioned but DH and I have been on Royal Caribbean numerous times, including our honeymoon, and they always impress us. Great food, outstanding service, and just the most beautiful, innovative ships. We actually just booked an Alaskan cruise with them for 2008.

I cant recommend any - but i can tell you to NOT use carnival!! The ship i took was disgusting and the food was terrible. I had a friend take a different ship - it was so bad -- when she got off on the first island - she took a plane home!

Ive never been personally, but FILs RAVE about Royal Carribean
They have been on Royal Carribean, Norweagan, Princess and Carnival and they say each one has a something better than one of the others.

Re: Recommended cruise lines?
The only cruise i've taken is Princess
and it was great!! the food was just OK on the ship however. FH and I were expecting AMAZING food and we got just ok.
but everything else was PERFECT. Princess runs a smooth ship not ONE problem the whole trip!!!!
My dad and stepmom took the PRINCESS alaskan cruise for their HM (last year) adn they loved it. had a great time!!!!

For a Hm?
if ur in Travel, you would always push Celebrity/RCCL -for Alaska...
Princess Alaska has gotten Negative reviews -from past Honeymooner's i've had who always sailed with Princess too..
As for Carnival -thats the Holiday Inn of the Seas...sorry to put it that way- BUT i can't truly put them down as a cruiseline BC they have made newer ships and great itineraries but it's not for HM'ers... JMO

Re: Recommended cruise lines?
I have been on 2 carnival cruises and 1 Royal Caribbean. I loved both. I found that the only difference was Royal Caribbean was a little more upscale, less kids running around, and things were a little fancier. I

Celebrity is known for the best food on the sea (besides the higher end lines)
but Princess is a Great cruiseline-and as you said the newer ships...:)

yeah i think the ships make a huge difference bc i saw pics of their other ships and they were so much smaller and looked so different, im sure my experience would've been completely different on another ship

I think I would have agreed with you on Carnival about 5 years ago- but they have really turned their service around- and while I think most of their caribbean service still is moderate- they're european and alaskan cruises get ratings off the charts. I think they're great for a honeymoon- lots of young people and affordable. A lot of the other cruise lines (alot of which are owned by carnival) are older and less to do. but again jmo
