What is your opinion on wearing a red dress to a wedding? I hadn't really thought much of it...Just curious what other opinions there are...

so pretty! i love the back!

Bright colors are very in right now. It's totally fine. Also, weddings are sometimes black tie occasions and red is perfectly fine at black tie.

I just wore more of a tomato red to an engagement
party. (I hope this pic thing works..)

Wearing white (any shade of it) in my opinion is a a definite NO, but reds really depend on the shade of red and the dress itself and the bride's personality. That pic of the red dress would be alright to most weddings but a bright red, short low cut dress is another story.
If you think the bride would get upset at the red dress, don't wear it. If your unsure, ask. If your sure she won't care, go for it. If you wouldn't want someone to wear it to yours, don't wear it to theirs.
Personally, I would prefer guests to my wedding not wear any shade of whites or reds. But that's just me.

As long as it's not an overly bright 'look at me here I am' that wouldn't take away attention from the couple (more particularly the bride) red and not a stripper dress I'd have no problem with it.

Also if it were an Asian or Indian wedding I would NOT wear red because that is the color the bride wears.

i dont see anything wrong with a red dress... if its a somewhat informal wedding and you're talking about a steal-the-show red sparkly revealing gown, then maybe? you know the dress, and you know the bride. red on its own isnt a problem at least for me...

I agree about not wearing it to an asian wedding ....

But other than that, I honestly can't think of a good reason not to wear any color other than white/ivory.

As far as the stripper/hooker thing -- I think those type of dresses come in all colors .... and anyone with tact wouldn't wear that style of dress to a wedding no matter what the color is.

i agree...the wedding is at Oheka, so I know to not where anything too casual / inappropriate...then again though, if i really felt that i shouldn't wear it, it's just another reason to go shopping...i'd just have to tell fh that it's inappropriate, and of course i can't go naked!

LoL those dresses definitely come in all colors, but sometimes the color makes the dress more or less appropriate.

But red on it's own isn't a problem for me, then again, i freaked at the idea about someone wearing white at my wedding, but that day several people did and it really wasn't as big of a deal as i had made it out to be.

I think red is fine, unless the bride is asian and pretty traditional..i LOVE a red dress!

I had guests who wore red AND white (they asked if it was okay first)...it totally didn't matter....no one would ever confuse them for the bride anyway!

P.S. It's always a nice gesture to ask the bride if you're still unsure. I had a girl ask me about sequins. I said, no prob.
