I have a wedding to go to and it's at an upscale restaurant on the west coast. The ceremony and reception will be there.
So I have a red cocktail dress, it's fitted, with a heart shaped neckline with black lace around the waist with a bow.
Now my question to all of you, is it okay to wear a red dress. My sister says red is a no no and I don't' know what to do....HELP!!! Is it okay? you can be honest, I won't feel bad

back in the day the 'mistress' would wear red - thats why some people (older people) think its a no - no. . . .but i dont think people really care about that anymore!
yea I just googled it and it said that guests shouldn't wear red to steal the bride's' thunder, but I don't see it that way

a red dress is actually a no no at asian weddings because the bride usually changes into a red gown at some point of the night. But i think it's okay to wear red to non-asian weddings.

yea I def knew that, which by the way I love, but online it says that it takes away from the bride

Go for it....if people are too pre-occupied with your red dress then it was bad wedding planning on their (b+G)...that or bad friends and family) part!! not to say you can't get compliments on looking great in a red dress, but it shouldn't take away from them if they planned well

OMG, that's horrible, if FH's 'mistress' () showed up to my wedding in ANY color, I'd whoop her a$$!
and i'd like to add, I 'd do it all in my white, virginal and angelic wedding gown
