What are your opinions on this? I've always loved red, and thought I'd have red BM dresses, red flowers, etc. I'm getting married in July outdoors on the water. The grounds have tons of flowers that are all different colors, but lots of purples/pinks. I wouldn't add any flowers outside except to the chuppah/gazebo. Inside is pretty nuetral. Do you think red is OK for summer at such a venue? I had people tell me red is too wintery for summer. HOnest opinions please. Thanks!

Re: Red in July?
I hope it's ok because my bridesmaid dresses are reddish and I'm at the end of June. I'm going for pretty fall-ish colors, but I don't care!!! Earthtones are my thing. Go for it - there are no rules!

Red is fine, i was in 2 weddings over the summer, one in July and one in August and our BM dresses were red. There are no color rules anymore, pick whatever you like.

Re: Red in July?
i think red looks great anytime of year...here's a pic from MrsDaniRella (07 bride) wedding in September...HTH!
Red in the summer months can be absolutely stunning! Its so bold and beautiful and what girl doesn't love red? I say go for it esp since Ruby is July's birthstone like someone said - it could be a theme - what your and FH's Birthstone - maybe you could incorporate those colors as small details - just a thought!

I think that it will definatly be okay...Even pretty to off set outdoor colors, (blue water, green grass) go for it.

What a great idea! Mine is topaz, which I was never crazy about, but FH's is diamond -- maybe they can be incorporated.
Thanks to all for all the positive feedback. If was expecting a mixed response -- not complaining though
If anyone thinks otherwise and is not posting, don't worry I have a thick skin.

I always wanted read too.....I'm getting married the same weekend as you, but am going with shades of pink. Once I saw the decor of the hall and realized that a softer color would work better with tanned people and the shades of summer, I decided to stay away from red. That's JMO and other people have done it and pulled it off with no problems! I associate red with winter since you have Christmas and then Valentine's day...that's just me though.

Re: Red in July?
I did red in July. It was fantastic.
I had a few hesitations (esp because of one grotesque red site on here...it was a joke...not a real bride...I hope), but when I took a pic of me & sis in the off-white that I wore & the pale color I wanted her to wear, we looked like we were both in bridal gowns.
Red made my girls stand out in the shots of the whole group together, and especially in the shots of everyone dancing. It really POPs out from the background. Makes the people who are special look it. Plus, it matches lots of other colors...my mom wore dark champagne.
Red makes flowers easy...I did reds, pinks, and whites. The flowers were beautiful.
I really thought about it...and was so happy that I did it. PLUS....my girls can use their red dresses again.

Thank you for your honest opinion! If I don't do red, it will be shades of pinks too. I love the way that looks. My sister hates pink and will kill me if I do that, but she'll get over it!

Thanks for such a detailed response! Would it be possible to post any pics? I'd love to see them.
