We finally had our floors refinished and I'm thrilled with the results Here are the before and after pictures. We used a water-based, non-toxic Swedish process so we wouldn't have to throw out the food in our house and it was fast drying so we could walk on it in a few hours. I chose a satin finish which I love!

Beautiful! I love hardwood floors.
Ours were DISGUSTING when we moved in! We also had them refinished. It's amazing what a little sanding and urithane can do!

BTW - why would you have to throw away your food b/c of re-finishing floors? Sorry if this is an ignorant question, but I've never heard of that.

As for the food - I'd imagine everything would need to be tossed after doing this because of the chemicals in the air from the products typically used? I know when my parents had their floors done years ago, we had to go away for the weekend!
