Reflection...

Reflection...

To those of you (like me) who are nearing the end of this roller coaster that is planning a wedding, I'm wondering if anyone has gained anything from this. Mind you, this is pre-wedding, before my post-wedding bliss clouds my better judgment.

Did any of you learn anything about yourselves from this i.e. like who your friends are, what you can rely on others for, what you are capable of etc.? If you had it to do all over again, or could just pocket the money and buy a house, would you? Were there ever moments when you look back and say, 'Jeez ... I was really a bridezilla. I could've just settled for X,Y,Z.'

All along, I was a reluctant participant in this. Believe it or not, my fi wanted this wedding. I did not ... I wanted a house. But, as it's nearing, I'm starting to feel really glad we did this. (Shhh. Don't tell him that.) Anyone else out there feel the same way?

Oops ... for got to add a choice for 'some of the above' ... for me that would be the answer. I was surprised in good ways and bad (mostly good), capable of being a BIATCH, but would not want to have missed out on this for anything in the world.

I am glad that I am having this wedding, and I did always want it. Having the money to buy a house was never an issue...we had that too. But I have learned who I can rely on, who my real friends are and the true importance of family. Weddings bring out the best in some people and the WORST in others.

I will be happy when its all over, except that I am in the middle of being a MOH and BM for 2 other weddings, so my time won't end until next July.

Re: Reflection...

Speaking as an old married woman (80+ days now),I truly enjoyed the wedding planning process. My husbandand I did it all together, much to my mother's dismay. I loved working the details out with him, and making the wedding a special day for the two of us.
But, I am amazed at how much money we were able to save and spend. We could have put a nice down payment on a house, but instead we had a fabulous wedding with all of the people that we loved...nand were able to see people we hadn't seen in years because of it. So I think it was all worth it.
However, looking back, I would have included my mother more in the decisions. I didn't realize how important it was for her, and I do feel badly that my husband and I did it all on our own...

For the most part i have enjoyed the ride! I almost will feel lost without the planning...
The stressfulness is getting worse and worse for me as the big day draws near..i hope to forget this stage!
As far as my friends are concerned, everyone acted as i suspected they would. One friend being a totaly arse (causing me to drop her), the others have been so great that i cry ...they have made me feel sooo loved!
Overall
I am soo greatful for this experience. Especially sharing this and planning it with my mom...There was a moment when we thought she wouldn't be here to see this (she had lung cancer..she is doing great now!) and i am GREATFUL everyday that she has been there for me, loving every moment...I will treasure it always!
