I was just told that I would only have two fittings; 1st one - 2 month before the wedding 2nd (last fitting) 4-3 weeks before the wedding.
Is this right????? I always tought you have your last fitting a week before? So I was also told that if I need more fittings, i should find a good seamstress...
HELP!!

Re: Regarding Fittings..... Is this right?
I'd definitely want one closer than 3 weeks before the wedding...many girls gain/lose enough to make a difference in those last weeks.

Re: Regarding Fittings..... Is this right?
That is the schedule I'm following I think...I just had my first fitting April 6th, second fitting May 4th, wedding June 5th. I don't think I have a fitting in between May and June...

Re: Regarding Fittings..... Is this right?
My first one was six weeks before, second one three weeks before and the last one 5 days before and I will pick it up the day before the wedding. Why would anyone get their fittings so far before the date? I want it to fit as perfect as possible.

I'm not up to this stage yet, but I would like to have a fitting closer to the wedding day.. more like 1-2 weeks before!

Re: Regarding Fittings..... Is this right?
I actually had my first fitting only 4 weeks before my wedding, and the last the week before. I personally would not feel comfortable taking my dress out of the store until at least then, and would insist that your last fitting be closer to your actual wedding date.

I'm not sure how many fittings I'm going to have. I had one a few weeks ago and am going back next week for the next one. I think I'll space the next one further out.
I wound up bringing my dress to Madame Paulette in the city. That's where the designer suggested I go. Their price depends upon what work you actually need. They also charge $150 to press and spot clean the dress.

I just don't understand why can I have it 2 or 1 week before.... what's the big deal?

Re: Regarding Fittings..... Is this right?
My sis just had her 3rd fitting. She keeps losing weight and they keep having to take it in. Her wedding is May 23rd and the seamstress yelled at her to have a bowl of pasta every night or there is nothing she can do.
She is scheduled for her 'last' fitting 2 weeks before the wedding. Granted, at that time everything should be near perfect and all they will need to do is steam the dress for her. Then she picks it up a week before the wedding.

You should have it 2 weeks before just in case. I think it is silly that you only get 2 fittings - what if on your second fitting you are still not happy?

Did they give you any explanation for why you're limited to two fittings and why they've got that timeline? Would that be the same policy if you had purchased from them directly, in the first place, or are they using a differet policy because you ordered through BCM?

You have the first one about 6-8 weeks before and then 2 weeks before and however many you need after that. Believe me it will be fine. I went through all my fittings. ANd some of the alterations they did right there while I waited. These people are professionals and can pump this stuff you so quick so do not panic......if after the first one there are major alterations then schedule the 2nd sooner than 2 weeks before

It should be as many fittings as you need to get the dress right! I had 3!
Also I would have one last fitting 1 week before the wedding to be safe. People always lose weight.

Freakin' BCM!!!! Well, hopefully, since the alterations are being done by the designer, they should get right. They won't want the dress fitting you poorly because it will reflect on them.
I'll let you know how things go with Madame Paulette in case you need additional alterations.
