Regarding politics and religion

Do you think it is possible for someone who has a stronlgy religious background to be able to separate that from their decision making process? Personally, I don't think so. I thin kthe president has some strong beliefs and I think it is good that he stands behind them.

But I do understand that his beliefs don't coincide with many. There are people on this message board who, I am sure, would be talking to God on a regualr basis if they were president, looking for advice or guidance. Is that really a bad thing?

So I guess we should start voting for those who don't have such a strong religious background.

Re: Regarding politics and religion

There is a difference between praying for guidence and making religiously biased policy.
I have an issue with prayer in school. I don't care for my tax dollars going to fund religious groups. I don't think that being gay is a sin and that santity of marriage is in jepordy because homosexuals want some equality.

This is not an issue that I just feel like complaining about. This is a right that we were grated in our Constitution.

Re: Regarding politics and religion

not necessarily. You can have a strong faith and not have it show up in your political decisions. You can strongly oppose abortion, but to make it illegal because it's a sin is not a valid political reason. You can oppose abortion due to your religious beliefs, but still support the womens right to do so. You can have a strong faith, but still not want there to be mandatory prayer in school.
