mom just called.. she said that a couple of people (other relatives) have asked her about what to get us for an engagement gift. She suggested we register. BUT... isn't it early for that? we just got engaged, and the wedding isn't for almost 2 more years.
Should I register already????? or wait till it is closer to shower time?
I do not want to feel presumptious about engagement gifts!!!

Re: register already?
we registered about 2 months after we were engaged. We got things off our registry for e-gifts at our e-party. We are getting married Sept.
I don't think it is too early

Re: register already?
definitely register so that you get things that you want and things that you can return if you don't like the gifts

Re: register already?
well depends what you need places like bloomingdales and fortunoffs have things other than china for your home. If you like to cook look into william and sonoma or anther specialty store where you could get specific things for your interest.

I don't think it's too early at all, especially since people are asking what to get you for engagement. I wouldn't go crazy, just a few things! A lot of things places suggest you wait on because style changes... But I'd throw some vases, frames, toasting flutes, things like that on a list. And if you're having an e-party, I'd throw on even more!

I would register for simple things like crystal and china now, maybe some vases. I wouldn't register for 'fun stuff' yet b/c some of that changes with the season (like Crate & Barrel) and you might have different tastes in two years. You could do pots and pans now also.

Re: register already?
We registered 2 months after we got engaged also. We registered at Bloomingdales (which nobody will most likeley get us stuff from - we registered for expensive stuff), Fortunoff's (did it on-line) and Bed Bath & Beyond. We registered for alot of cooking stuff, and gift stuff (like Lenox bowls). As new models come put, I'll have to keep updating it, but everything is accessible on-line so it's real easy. Have fun!!

Re: register already?
My whole feeling is... If you do it now, you won't have to do it later.... Plus, it's so much fun & a little bit of work..... But in the end it's worthwhile.
I didn't have an e-party, and obviously my invites have not gone out for a bridal shower yet - my wedding not being til September, but, I see things are already disappearing off my registries....

Re: register already?
We registed in August and not getting married till Oct 03. We figured for engagement gifts( we got 2 place settings of our china and 12 of the wine glasses) from close relatives since we didn't have a party. Also for christmas and birthdays since everyone is always asking us what do we want so now they have a list and they can decide and its what we really want not something we don't need. We registed at fortunoff's for china, vases, frames and stuff. BBB for everyday things -pots, bakeware, quilt, sheets, new toaster oven and Kohl's for steam vac, luggage, towels ( they gave us a $25 gift check for registering which we used to buy the flower girls gifts). BBB tells you when they are discontinuing a product so you can change it.

Re: register already?
Hmmm sounds like fun.......
Once we do register, do we just tell our families to spread the word? So the mom's know when people ask?

Re: register already?
We just registered this past weekend. I was thinking if people wanted to get us Christmas gifts, at least they could get us something we want and can use. Bed Bath and Beyond is my next stop, but we're letting the Mom's spread the word since people have been asking. Good luck!

Re: register already?
We registered at Bed Bath & Beyond & Kohls but if you are doing work on your house you might want to register at Home Depot too.
