Registered yesterday

What an exhausting experience!!

We went to Macy's and Target. Macy's in Manhasset was a pain in the *** because half of the things we looked at had no prices posted and the price doesn't come up on the scanner.

I was trying to be really conscious of balancing some quality in the items we were registering for against price. I don't want people to spend a fortune on us when there are items available with a quality that will work just fine, but I don't want to be replacing things in 2 years either because they were crap... so cost was a big issue, but geez!

And I can NOT fine everyday dinnerware that I like. We registered for Noritake Crestwood Platinum china and Ralph LAuren crystal stemware (again because we didn't want stuff so expensive that no one would get it for us) so I want the everyday dinnerware to look different...I'd really like some Corelle, but Target didn't have anything I liked.

Did anyone else have this balancing issue? How did you handle it and what did you register for? What caused you the biggest headache in trying to balance cost vs quality?

i also could not find every day china i liked. crate & barrel came into the mix for that reason.

This is actually why I registered online- so I could read reviews on items and see where the money was worth it and where it wasn't!

We registered for Hotel Collection simple white bone China, but again- this is why we ended up making an Amazon.com registry instead of another store (we did Macy's, Amazon, and Traveler's Joy). I am sure you can find Corelle that you like on Amazon! Can you find a pattern that you like on the Target website?

I didn't register for anything crazy expensive (outside of a Keurig). Everything was basically between $20 and $200.

I would suggest tweaking your registry online so you can read reviews, etc. and make decisions on cost vs. quality.

I registered at Macys originally.. then realized 99% of everything I registered for was cheaper at BBB.. so I moved the whole registry.

I'm not sure about the whole 'balance' thing.. I needed everything so I felt my registry was fine - feel free to check it out on BBB if you need ideas.

Yeah this is what we are going to do, but for things like towels and sheets and bedding... I needed to shop for that in person, I needed to see and feel it before I chose. I also like to feel the weifght of things like the silverware and glasses... IDK, I'm a very tactile person.

But yeah, the dishes I'm thinking I might even just buy myself and save myself the headache because we found everything else we wanted at Macy's and Target.

OMG I LOVE the towels we registered for!

They feel so good- so I understand the need to feel the stuff

I did most of it online, we went to Macys and did a little zapping, but I felt overwelmed. so we did some of the big stuff (pots and pans, dishes, ect) then came home and did it all online I was alble to organize it better and see what i was regestering for and the price

Also I put expensive items.. like my dyson animal ball vaccuum - and people went in on it together.. my coworkers bought it for me.

so don't limit yourself because of price.. a lot of times people will chip in for gifts.

my aunts chipped in for a few things, etc.
