this past weekend my FSIL who is my matron of honor basically told me to hurry up and register she asked some questions about what i want to do for my bach party and shower (my mom lives in florida and i want her to be at both and its hard for my mom b/c of $ and work) so i told her that its probably easiest to do both the same weekend so my mom & sis only have to make 1 trip - then she asked me if it was okay if the shower wasnt in october (2 months before the wedding) and if everything was a little early - which i said that was fine too (but i told FH to tell them september because i dont my shower and bach party in the summer ) after we left FH told me he's glad that his sister finally talked to me because she was driving him nuts about registering and he said he was trying to get information out of me to pass along to her but he could never bring it up without seeming suspicious so tuesday we checked out some stores and we started our registries. we did macys, bed bath & beyond and crate & barrel....my mom works for macys so i wanted to do the majority of my registry there so she could use her 20% employee discount when buying my gifts (i figured it would help her out) but im a little disappointed because there isnt much at macys that we want - most of our items are at BBB and C&B and to be honest im disappointed that macys doesnt have much of anything we want or like - we still didnt do bedding, sheets & towels so i'll probably put all that on macys...so anyway what store was your favorite to register in? and how long did it take you to complete your registry? we are slow pokes we still have so many things we need to add!

Re: Registering
i agree about the lack of stuff at Macys. That is my main store I registered at and I dont like ANY of their bedding or casual dinnerware. We also did BBB and cant find anything we like there.
dont worry! i started my registry in September but I'm still not finished!
but how exciting knowing that your bridal shower is coming up!!!!

Re: Registering
You're way ahead of me and we're getting married in the same month
We plan on registering at Macy's and BBB. I don't think we'll be setting up our registries until June though. I told my MOH that I want my shower in late Aug./early Sept. since it'll be easier to do it in FSIL's backyard.

Re: Registering
I would reccomend BBB. I'm also registered at fortunoffs and haven't had any problems with them so far.
I went to both stores before we officially registered and looked online to see what things I liked, so that when I went in the store I didn't spend hours deciding on things. FH and I were probably at each store about an hour, give or take. We knew what we wanted, went right to everything and that was that. Of course there are always a few things you need to really look at and think about, but the whole process really wasn't that painful! good luck!!

Re: Registering
we are registered at BBB & Macys. I def. like BBB better, they have alot more in the store, they are much more friendly. FH was happy w/them b/c they gave him pretzels and water
Maybe check out Macys.com, sometimes they have things on the site that arent in the store.

I've been disappointed with some of the things at Macys too. I think I'm going to have to go to a larger Macys to finish. We started at our one year mark with the basics like the small electric appliances and stuff. We just did towels and bedding. Then when we move into the house we'll finish the rest.

Re: Registering
Did you try checking online to see what Macys had? Sometimes its a little bit easier to start your registry in the store and then go online and add things as you like. We registered at Bloomingdales for our fine china and stemware but later transferred it to Macys cuz they have better perks. We also have one at C&B (LOVE that store) , BBB and Williams-Sonoma (great store but kinda expensive so we only registered for items there that you cant get elsewhere).

Re: Registering
Whatever you do don't do fortunoffs! they have wonderful things but they make the registry very difficult. I've gotten wrong things sent to me. things available on my registry one day and not the next it's been awful. BBB had a lot of the same things and has been wonderful to work with. So my main ones are BBB and Fortunoff although i transfered whatever i could off of Fortunoff to BBB. After my shower invites went out i added stuff on a pottery barn website and asked my BM's for something on there and told my mom and FMIL to tell people to go there if they ask. I like their stuff a lot. As for Macy's the main thing is that you find a gift you want from your mom there. No one else gets the 20% anyway and they get coupons for BBB for 20%....so get stuff where you like it.

Re: Registering
I loved everything I registered for at Fortunoffs, and had no problems with them. But my favorite store was BBB. They were very helpful and 'user friendly.' People can use BBB 20% coupons towards gifts (inc ones that have expired) and will take competitor's coupons also.

Re: Registering
first we went to the stores to get ideas and i brought a notepad and we wrote down what we needed/wanted....for us its hard because we have SO MANY things since we've been living together for 3 years - we live in an apartment but are moving after the wedding so we are trying to register for the things we don't have and will want in the house and then things that we want that are new so we can just throw away all our old stuff -we arent registering for china b/c neither one of us is into china and for all the money people spend on place settings i rather register for and get more gifts that we can use in the new house - ill eventually get my moms china which has been passed down - but our families are the type that dont even use their china b/c there are either to many people over and not enough place settings (thats typical in FHs family) and my mom likes to keep all hers displayed in a cabinet since its like vintage china
we know what we use and dont want things collecting dust in our cabinets - i dont know if living together for this long is a blessing or a curse - if we didnt live together we would be registering for every appliance under the sun and for lots of stuff im sure would end up being a waste (which would be fine b/c you dont know that going into it) but since we know our routine, we know what we cook, we know what we use on a daily basis, and we know the things we want b/c we always say 'i wish we had a' but to be honest i feel like its harder to register this way

Nice head start!!!
We've been working on ours since November. I think it's rare that anyone goes out and finishes it in a day. You'll see something and be like, oh, i have to add that to my registry!
good luck with the rest!

Re: Registering
i agree and i registered at macys for the same reason; fh's cousin works there. I don't love that much there, but for major stuff we put our china, towels (hotel collection), down comforter, sheets, pillows. and a calphalon pot set.
all other stuff l put on at BBB. I was getting annoyed at macys because things are always going on sale and then off and the whole reason i registered for some stuff there was the prices... like my china was $99, i didn't know that was a sale, then it went up to $150
but i REALLY want my towels, sheets, bedding from macys and then everything else from BBB.

we've been combing over the macys, bbb and c&b websites trying to find stuff we want to add - but its not that easy i have to admit its lots of fun though - FH and i were having a ball - its going to be torture to keep everything boxed until we have a house!

Which Macys did you go to? We went to a smaller one and I plan on finishing at a larger one like at Roosevelt Field.

I do this every time I go into one of those stores. I make mental notes and then go home and change everything around I can be very indecisive about these things
Plus, FH and I are currently looking to buy a house so its hard to pick out things that are 'decor' b/c we dont know what our house is going to look like or how we are going to decorate

Mici we went to the macys in menlo NJ - i think its a pretty crappy macys though - we might have to head out to short hills mall in NJ - i remember them having a nice macys - i keep checking their website but im not impressed - i guess i expected the majority of our stuff to be from there and there are actually more things on our BBB and C&B registries.....I LOVE BBB - i think thats my favorite one!
FH is excited because we are registering for things for our backyard - his sis is getting us a nice stainless steel grill, so he wants to register for all BBQ tools, a rolling drink cart thingy, a hammock! He is so excited for a Florida backyard lmao!

I also found that the same exact items at Macy's were much much cheaper at BBB.

same here! and i have experience from moving into two apartments - so i know that i like to pick out wall color and bedding at the same time - and work off that...same for the bathroom - i work off the tile color to pick paint and go from there....so its hard when you dont know where you are going to live....plus i rather get those things when im ready for them and am actually in the house....so im trying to avoid those things and fill up the registry with other things

Thats pretty much how we are doing it too. We registered for things (mostly kitchen stuff) that dont really get kept out anywhere. We didnt register for any bathroom or bedroom stuff. I figure if we get any Gift cards we can save them for when we get a house.
