Registering

Re: Registering

aggggh my internet window closed itself. wrote you a long thing too grr

basically we registered at macys, bbb and c&b too.

bbb is our main, has appliances, china, anything we can put on there. best prices, 20% off, best customer service, our guests seem to prefer that place.

c&b has our glassware and more serving platters and misc items. they discontinue things all the time so keep an eye out for that. we bought a lot of stuff ourselves.

macys was orig our overflow (we closed fortunoff a while ago and put whatever bbb didnt carry onto macys) so it was just a few pieces from our china that bbb didnt carry, a silverware set, a few pillow cases, a wine fridge. etc. we added 2 bedding sets to it so now there is a decent amount of stuff on there but its frustrating because they have a zillion bedding sets online that they didnt have in the store! if you dont think you like what they have, look online -- there is so much bedding and a lot of nice stuff. the store itself was lacking. macys worries me though bc im afraid people will overpay for stuff if its listed as the overinflated orig price.

ex: our silverware set was like $175 but every once in a while it goes back up to $275 which must be the 'orig price' -- and our down comforter is $299.99 but once i went back and saw it listed at $575. 99% of the time its on sale, but it would suckk for someone to buy it at full price not knowing.

id suggest picking out a bunch you like and trying to find them in the stores. i liked a bunch of different ones, went into the store and the 3 of them they had on display i didnt like in person! there was one we hadnt considered (a diff color scheme) that we did like in person.

its a toss up

Mici we went to the macys in menlo NJ - i think its a pretty crappy macys though - we might have to head out to short hills mall in NJ - i remember them having a nice macys - i keep checking their website but im not impressed - i guess i expected the majority of our stuff to be from there and there are actually more things on our BBB and C&B registries.....I LOVE BBB - i think thats my favorite one!

FH is excited because we are registering for things for our backyard - his sis is getting us a nice stainless steel grill, so he wants to register for all BBQ tools, a rolling drink cart thingy, a hammock! He is so excited for a Florida backyard lmao!

Yeah, we went to a not so great one and I agree about what's on the website too. I mean, how can they have only 5 different shower curtains or kitchen towels I know going to a bigger Macys that has a better selection, I'll find what I want.

FH and I live together so registering was really hard. It took us about a month and we switched back and forth a lot.

We are doing Williams Sonoma, BBB & Bloomingdales. I was very happy with Williams Sonoma and Bloomingdales, I was a little disappointed with BBB because we started our registry online and when we went into the store to look at the stuff they didnt carry it and it was internet only which might be hassel for people.

I def agree though, we want to buy a house and i have no idea what im going to want then so we stuck to neutral colors.

Good luck and try not to be like me, im a dirty little peeker.

I was disappointed with Macy's myself, we wanted to register there too but only wound up putting like 5 things on there because they really had crap. My favorite place to register in store was Fortuneoff, they had so many nice things. We also did BBB for a ton of stuff. They had nice towels and all the fun stuff. I am absolutely addicted to going online and adding/deleting stuff I dont know how many times I changed stuff already, I really have to stop We wanted to pick our bedding at Macy's but didnt see anything so I wound up picking one at BBB that I liked and then adding another one I saw online at Fortunoff. Overall it took us 4 trips to complete our registry and then I just added a few misc. items online.

Re: Registering

it took me a while to register..honestly I've been adding the most stuff when we finally got the house..its hard to register when you don't know the colors of your rooms, etc..so it took me longer too..i just registered at macys and i agree there definately is a lack of stuff..but i just registered for fine china there...as macys runs alot of sales

Re: Registering

I highly recommend Macys!!! Go register at the one in the city in Harold Sqaure! They have much more in stock and the displays are much better!

I would atleast register for your standard applicances that u can find in any store and your fine china!- they have this great deal where they give you back a percentage of the items bought in a form of a Macys gift card. I got back $100!!
and had i known about the deal earlier, i would have taken off all the fine china from my fortunoffs registry and put it on my macys/

my friend got back $250 b.c she had all her fine china, fine bedding , flatware, and crystal on the registry!

i would use the crate and barrel and bbb for the more unique items that you wont find in macys.

good luck! and def. start registering! the sooner the better b.c u will change your mind 100 times!

i noticed that too - we did most of our registry online - our knives are in BBB but we didnt see them in the store - i noticed that for quite a few items - but we have a lot of internet shoppers in our family so im not worried about it...also some of the stuff we wanted we arent putting on the registry b/c people have already called dibs on it - like the pots, dyson vacuum, things like that
