I was going to do it about a year out or maybe a little sooner.

Re: Registering

I'm doing it tonight and not getting married till Sept 10.
Mainly because some family members have been asking my aunt what they should get me as a egift (not having a eparty).
So i figured starting a registry would make things a little easier.

I don't think there is a real norm. If people are asking then i'd start making one now.

Re: Registering

You can register as early or late as you want, because you can always update it whenever you want

we registered in october 08, because we wanted to do it before xmas, this way if our families wanted to get us things off the registry for gifts they could, i'm constantly updating it online

i am in april 2010 and still havent registered....i didnt want to register for our e-party and we are also moving in july so I figured we'd wait till the end of summer/fall to see what we need.

Re: Registering

we started ours 2 weeks ago. it is no where near finished. we took 2.5 hours to just pick our everyday & holiday place settings. we are going to go back to macys one saturday in hopes of actually picking the rest of the stuff. however we are not telling anyone that we registered until after we finalize. hopefully by august. then we are going to tell the bridal party & our moms first so they can have first picks.

edit to say that i am an April 2010 bride

Re: Registering

I did my registry two months ago and I'm getting married the day after you. FH's cousin is getting married this December and hasn't registered. So, I think it is all about when you want to.

Hi Date Twin!!

We actually registered back in February - mainly because we were both really excited to do it - and we had some free time together to do it (which rarely happens because of both of our work schedules). It's never too early to register! Plus, we are having an Engagement Party and a bunch of our family and friends have already asked us where we are registring...

Yes i think i will start registering soon :)

Thanks ladies :)

My fiances schedule is a bit hectic too and doesnt really line up with mine most times, but we should be able to arrange some time to get it done

Re: Registering

You're almost a year away from your wedding, so I think now would be a great time to register. I still have a year and four months and I registered two weeks ago.

Im getting married in Aug 2010 and I did it these last 2 weekends... it was post e-party, so I know we won't see the gifts for a while but we just felt like doing it...

Re: Registering

We registered really early because we were having an e-party right away. We registered in early February and are getting married June 2010.

Re: Registering

I was going to wait until like a year before my wedding, but everyone has been asking us where we're registered. So we may do it this weekend. I always assumed I would just need it for the shower, but people want to buy us engagement gifts. I am so excited to register!!!

Re: Registering

I only registered so early b/c I'm having an Eparty in June. You have time, but it is fun to do! And we've altered it so much in the last month.

I'm getting married next fall, but will start the first registry in May, mainly because we're attending a Crate & Barrel Wedding Party event.

Thanks for all the advice ladies!!!!

Re: Registering

i think as long as you are done completely 6months prior to your wedding, then thats good. this way it gives everyone ample time to buy a shower gift.

Re: Registering

I'm probably going to register by some time in the summer, since people have started asking.
