OMG totally not as much fun as I thought it was going to be!! We were in BBB for a grand total of 6 hours!! ^ hours of my life in one store lol. The last two were the most difficult, making decisions on things like linens, towels and sheets is extremely hard when you don't yet have the table, the bathroom or the bed. We aren't even done, we have to go back today. How many stores are you ladies registering/registered at? I was considering Macys just to give people the option but I know they are going to be way more expensive then BBB. China is also insanely priced!! I don't really feel like asking people to buy me $60-$200 sets when we were thinking we would need about 8 sets. I was thinking maybe we wouldn't do china and just buy ourselves better plates for the holidays? I have no idea the entire day was exhausting and FH and I just ended up fighting

Re: registering
registering took forever!! i did BBB too, and I did Macys. I like Macy's bedding better, but honestly BBB has more options/mixed priced items and little gadgets to give people choices.
I had such a hard time with silverware, i was like, um that's 45 dollars a SETTING???? it doesn't even look special! haha
the good thing is you can always return it, if you change your mind so don't worry :)

Oh man, 6hrs.... FH would go nuts. I put a ton of things down online and once FH is not working 6 days a week we are gonna go in and narrow down what we want. We have a lot already bc we moved in last yr. Many blessings to you for getting it done!!!

Same! I expected it to be so much fun- it was tedious! I registered at BB&B, Bloomingdales & Crate and Barrel.
We didn't register for China- I think it's way to pricey! We registered to nice stoneware place settings at BB &B and will just register for nice stemware for the Holidays.

Re: registering
Registering is DEF tedious!!!!
Don't stress too much over prices, though - remember lots of guests will buy in together! For our e-party my mom and her best friend split all of our fine china! And I know my sister's boss (totally random, i know! lol) split our espresso items w/ another friend.
Also, macys and BBB are pretty competitive and often will match one another's prices so dont feel bad about registering there, too, if you prefer settings/linens/etc. that they carry!
Sorry you had a bad experience I'm sure after 6 hours ANYONE would start pissing me off LOL!

Re: registering
Registering gets tiring, but try to have fun! We registered at BBB and Macy's. Macy's has lots of sales and sometimes it will be buy 1 place setting get 1 free or something like that!
Maybe take a break from registering and go back in a week when you aren't so stressed!!! Good luck!!!!

Re: registering
We went for the first time yesterday and found it overwhelming. Our first place is tiny and we don't need a lot of stuff - we're pretty easy like that.
We registered at Macy's. The Everyday Dining stuff was pretty nicely priced (we got Macy's Cellar Brand).
Macy's also has tons of sales for people and they had some really nice perks for registering.
FH loves Best Buy, we're looking at registering there as well as registering for our Honeymoon.
I'm wondering if we should register at BB&B or Target to have some smaller prices items though...
Point is, you are so not alone, it's really overwhelming and trying to make sure everyone can afford something on the list.

Re: registering
we ended up having to go back because we were sooo tired and it was late and very crowded and people started annoying me.
also, macys is about the same price when they have their sales as BBB for everything so don't stress about that. people never buy anything full price at macys!
i ended up putting some stuff in both places to help some people out and then just monitor it so i dont get 24 place settings.

Re: registering
Oh no! this is why I've been avoiding it :(
But we are having an E-party on July 23rd and everyone keeps asking 'when are you going to register' and I just make a scared confused look
I really just want to say 'GIVE ME MONEY THIS WEDDING IS SO EXPENSIVE'
We're thinking BBB for most stuff and Macy's for fine china ....
Meh!

Re: registering
We registered at BB&B for now and will add Macy's on later when it gets closer to when I should be having a shower. We didn't register for China, we did however get a nicer set of everyday dishes that run about $40 per place setting and then we added in all the little extras that can go with it like the gravy boat and so on. We really didn't feel the need to get China yet because we don't have our own house yet. FH said if I really want it then down the road after we buy a house we can get it, this way it doesn't sit in boxes in our basement. We really want stuff we can use now instead of having it in storage for however many years. I agree, I didn't really think people would buy us something that was so expensive per place setting but my sister got her entire set at her shower so I guess they do. BTW, she has yet to use it and has been married almost 10 years. (something to think about)
We didn't find it too frustrating only because we didn't pick towels and bedding yet (we're doing that at Macy's). If you don't have the place yet for all these items then go neutral. As for bedding, get what you want, you can always paint to match!
I did find that picking out some items was a very daunting task. The one thing I had the hardest time with are pots and pans. We didn't even bother registering for them yet because I had no clue. I love the set I currently have so I don't feel the need to get a new set but FH thinks we should and of course so did the BB&B lady who was helping us. Whatever we didn't decide on now we can add on later. You still have plenty of time.

OMG 6 hours, eek!! I'm trying to work on all my appointments for when I'm down on LI, and haven't gotten a chance to register yet, but now everyone is bugging my FH's mom about it, so she's trying to get me to do it soon. I'm not looking forward to this!!

Re: registering
I'm dreading registering. I know people say to do a good portion of it online, but I feel like there's more variety in the stores. I'll have to bring a list of things that we need/want beforehand and hope it just goes quicker than 6 hours.

It took a while when we registered too! FH really liked scanning the stuff and was having a good time. I on the other hand just wanted to leave. We didn't register for everything. We kept the bedding and bath stuff off the list for now until we get our home and have a better idea of what colors we want.
Sorry you had such a bad expereince.

OMG! 6 hours? I'm sorry some of you didn't enjoy/dread the experience. FH and I don't live together yet, so when we went to Macys, we had a great time! Granted, we had little nit picking and fun arguements about what is reasonable and what isn't reasonable t expect our guests to pay, but in the end... we said screw everyone else and picked everything we would buy ourselves. In the end, we had a BLAST! He played with the gun.. told me I wasn't using it properly... and we compromised. Luckily, our style is very similar, so we chad an easy time picturing our home and what things will look like together.
If you haven't done it yet, I definitely recommend a Macys night of appetizers, freebies from vendors, drinks, and a gun to shoot around with. It's a lot of fun!

Registering takes forever and I agree it's not as much fun as people make it seem. My advice is to do a little at a time. Rather than spend 6hrs, do 2hours at a time and I can promise that it won't be as overwhelming.

I found it in a magazine a while back. It's called a 'sip and scan' event. It's a fun way to just kick off the registering. They hold it at Roosevelt Field... other places on LI might have them too.
