Registering!

So... after a LOOOONNNGGG lengthy discussion with family last night... I was basically told that I SHOULD register for my e-party. My mom said to just make up a small one for now with stuff I can use now (sheets, new microwave, toaster oven... smaller stuff) so she can put it on the invites for the e-party.

To get them to shut up FH and I decided we'll do it sometime this week.

I want to register where I get SWAG!! LOL I want to register somewhere that I get stuff.

Anyone have any suggestions? I've heard BBB gives you stuff.

At BBB if you register for certain things you get some stuff you also get more things once people buy stuff. Macy's is the same way. Nothing was honestly that great that I noticed. Most things you got free was if you put certain things on there but I noticed most of those things were things I didn't want/need. You can see it all on BBB as Macy's website

We registered at BBB and Macy's. We didn't really get anything just by registering other than the ability to purchase the leftover items at a discounted price if we don't get them. Also there were incentives like if you buy certain amount of Calphalon you get stuff free.

Lol that's what mine said to so we didn't register and got some gifts, gift cards and cash. We more wanted people just to have fun and told them not to give us gifts but they did anyway.

katielynn you could register at amazon! You don't get free stuff but you can register for whatever you want, great if you want to keep it small for now.

BBB is pretty good with incentives. Right now if a certain amount of money is spent on our china, the buyer gets a 50$ gift card.
We registered just out of excitement. We didn't put the registry cards in our e-party envelopes and are still asked if we are registered anywhere. We were trying to avoid getting registry gifts to soon, but I think it's inevitable!

I got a free chef's knife from (I think) Calpahlon because we registered for a certain amount of stuff from them.

The only thing with the incentives at BBB is that they change yearly. So, for example, when we registered (in August) for Calphalon, they had an incentive where, if people bought you like $500 worth of their stuff, you'd get a free pot or something. But that was just till the end of 2012. I think there's new incentive this year.

Engagement presents? I've never given any, maybe that's why I didn't get any, haha.

Except our parents - we got engaged in Nov and they gave us a nice Christmas present. And my sister, who gave me a ring stand, a most thoughtful gift for someone newly engaged.

Although now that I cast my mind back, I gave my sis and her hub Waterford toasting flutes. But it's not a thing to do in my larger family.

At least, it's been a secret to me if it is! Maybe I'm on everyone's no gift list.

I only had a small party, my immediate family. And I didn't even know to do that - that was all my sis.

Macy's does star rewards so you get back a certain percentage of the gifts people buy you, 5 or 10%. You get a gift card about 3 months after the wedding for the value of what people spent plus 10% of WHATEVER you buy and put on your macy's card. A friend of mine got married a couple years ago and regrets putting most of her registry on BBB and a small amount on Macys. I'm doing the opposite!
