FH and I have yet to register ..hopefully, within the next 2 weeks.. I was speaking to one of my friends who recently got married and she told me just to register at Macys bc they have everything and you can return things and also shop for furniture with the things you return, etc...
I know that through BBB you can get money back? I dont know if Macys does the same? For the ladies who registered, where did you register and did you just go with FH or did you include your mother and fmil? Also, We dont live together, so I dont have a clue on exactly what to register for, do the sales people help you? lol please help... you can fm me if you would like, thank you thank you

Re: registering @ Macys, BBB
everyone ive ever spoken to about registries told me the exact opposite... only register at BBB they have everything and they have it for a better price, and everyone has 20% off coupons... or $5 off coupons...
ETA: we havent registered yet... but we are definitely registering at BBB, and either target or kohls...
FH said he wanted to go so it will be me, him and my mom...

Re: registering @ Macys, BBB
We have registered at Bloomingdales, BBB and Williams Sonoma
We also don't live together so we needed EVERYTHING! The sales people do help you but I work in the housewares industry so I am fairly familiar with all the products so I took some of their suggestions but not all.
I talk to my mom and FMIL about the registery what I should add but they have never came to register with us.

i registered at both.....personally i prefer macys but i thought it bbb was more accessible for people. with macys you get rewards 5% back on everything bought....so now fh and i plan to buy a sofa with that money.

Re: registering @ Macys, BBB
I registered at both. I heard negative things about both places actually lol. I heard Macys would be more expensive and than that BBB has a history of not taking things off the registry when someone purchases them so you get doubles. When it came down to it, each of them had things I really wanted so I went with both. I found that...yes...Macys was more expensive but it was also because they carry expensive items like fine china that are generally more expensive than the basic everyday items that BBB carries. Macy's offered a generous rewards system. Everytime someone purchases something off your registry they transfer 10% of that purchase into a gift card for you. After your shower, they mail you the gift card and you can use it towards anything in the store. BBB I found to be complicated...you need to order a number of the same companies products and then they give you a gift card to be more things. If you happen to like a variety of items made by different companies, this can hinder your chances of gettng the gift cards. Good Luck!!

Re: registering @ Macys, BBB
We registered at both. There are a ton of things that Macy's has that BBB doesn't have a vice versa.
FH wanted to register with me and so we started the registries by ourselves. We then brought our moms at a later date to show them what we picked out and got their feedback on everything. They were able to tell us what we were missing, what was better and stuff like that

Re: registering @ Macys, BBB
I would recommend registering at both. Macy's doesn't have a lot of those kitchen gadget things, and unless they are running a sale, their regular prices are like double that of BBB. Yet BBB didn't carry my everyday nor formal china. I like the my guests will have options of stores to register at. btw, Macy's registry rewards are great - we've already gotten close to $300 and we're not even close to our shower yet!
I registered at both. I think Macys only gives you store credit if you return stuff. Also, they will both help you but the Macys I went to (Herald Square) is more personal and customer service oriented. BBB doesn't really interfere with what your buying or make recommendations. Once you sign up, they both have registry guides online that you can look at.
Macys is awesome though. Not only did I get a free Victorinox tote when I registered but you get 5% back on all purchases made on your registry and when you purchase anything with your macys card, you get 10% back.

Re: registering @ Macys, BBB
i think you should register at both but i just wanna warn you that the bbb cash back thing depends on the store... we tried getting cash back for stuff from my shower just one week ago and we put up such a fight and they flat out refused to give us cash back and they said that the policy was changed a year and a half ago... this was at the lake grove location near smithhaven mall... so if you register at bbb, make sure that the store you do participates in cash back because other girls said that they got cash back no problem!

We registered at Macys and Williams Sonoma
BBB will not give you 20% if you don't have the coupon. I think you have to bring the receipt back with the coupon to get the discount. The ladies at Macy's always hook you up!
BBB does have a lot of stuff, I found that Macy's has it too. I think you will make out okay if you choose either store (or both)

I registered at both.
Macys - FH & I attended the Sip n Scan event - free snacks and drinks and you get a free gift at the end. We registered mostly bedding, fine china, casual china, and flatware
BBB - we ordered a lot of Kitchen items, they allow you to use 20% and $5 coupons (which helps our guests save money)
