Has anyone registered there? In your honest opinion...is it ridiculous to register there?

Re: Registering at Tiffany's
we MAY register there. I went by there just to see what is available and there are some things that are cheaper (candlesticks, some wine decantor, and few other things) but the majority is WAY OVERPRICED. Just put it this way...is it something you would go out and buy with your own money? if yes, then register there. if not, then don't. problem is...my FH would buy things from there but i wouldn't.

I honestly do not imagine any of my guests would purchase a gift for us from Tiffany's, nor would it be likely that I would ever purchase a gift from there either. JMO.

I agree. many guests might feel like your using them for high priced gifts that you might not buy for yourself. If you register there also add other places to your registry otherwise be prepared for alot of gifts that were not asked for.

Re: Registering at Tiffany's
I think it depends on the person. If you are used to things like that and people know you know that you are then IMO it is ok. I registered for champagne flutes from Tiffany and got them from my aunt. I was going to register for china there but then decided not register for china at all. I think so long as the prices are what people want to spend ($50-$100) for a shower or wedding gift then who cares where they are from? So if you think people will buy it then I think it is ok - but not if you wouldn't buy those things yourself with your own money.

I really would never. I know that the majority of my friends and family can't afford to shop there.

Re: Registering at Tiffany's
I registered there when we had our e-party. We only put a few things like vases and candle sticks and bowls. about 10 items all together. I think personally it was a waste. We will probably never use the stuff...lol

We got a gift from Tiffany and we didnt register there. People do shop there. People also chip in for gifts. Personally, I think a registry is a wish list. If people don't wish to spend that much, they can choose a gift from one of your other registries. Gifts are never obligatory.

Re: Registering at Tiffany's
i think its definitly okay to register there. Especially if youre registered at other places, people will choose for themselves where they want to buy your gift from. We recieved tiffany candlesticks as a gift and we are not registered there.

If you feel like registering there, DO IT!!!! Why not?!?! After all you only get to register for your wedding once, so you might as well register where you want. Just be sure to register at a couple of other places too, like BB&B, Macys, etc... because I think most people are more likely to shop at these other stores, and also the prices are more reasonable.

I see nothing wrong with registering at Tiffany's but I would also register somewhere else as well!

Re: Registering at Tiffany's
I'm not personally registering there- but I think if you want to it is just fine- like the other girls said- just give options- register there and someplace like macys or fortunoffs.

Re: Registering at Tiffany's
you can register anywhere you want. Tiffany's has perfectly normal priced gifts there....vases, bowls and candlesticks. I've seen girls put ridiculously priced items on their registries at say Fortunoff and no one is offended b/c it's Fortunoff...people just get offended when they hear Tiffany's b/c they assume it's going to be very expensive things. They have gorgeous stuff there - GO FOR IT!

Personally, I think it depends on the person. If that's the norm for you, than do it.
A registry is a wish list to an extent. Keep your guests in mind. My friend 'wished' for very expensive things and her shower consisted of tons of baskets of gadgets b/c everything was so expensive. I kid you not when I tell you she got ZERO bedding, bath and cookware. What good is that? I don't know why she registered like that, especially b/c neither his nor her family are well to do. She had to go and buy it all herself afterwards...oh and just as an aside, she didn't buy herself what she registered for. What she bought was waaaaaay less expensive!

Re: Registering at Tiffany's
we were registered there. it's really not anymore expensive then most places, unless your buying jewelery. none of my family lives anywhere near a tiffanys though so we changed to macys. plus I cannot imagine really of my friends trotting over to Manhasset, or fh's friends. they're all way to lazy lol.
anyway if your family can easily shop there it shouldn't be a problem.

I agree. I cannot imagine any of my guests buying me gifts from there. They may feel that they're being taken advantage of.

Re: Registering at Tiffany's
Im registered there. I dont think its as expensive as people think. I am registered for stemless wine glasses and candlesticks and a couple of vases and a couple of platters. Everything on my list is under $150 and a number of things are under $100. I dont see the difference from registering at macys for all vera wang. If you want things from there then register there!

Re: Registering at Tiffany's
My cousin and his new bride registered at Tiffany's for their china.... At her engagement party and shower she got a few pieces but she has not gotten a complete set. If you think your family and friends will buy items from there definitely do it... My family is cheap and couldnt' believe she registered there.... but if thats what you want i say go for it!
