registering for bedding and towels... AND a C&B ??

I am avoiding talking to my mom about this. Although she is a great woman, when I don’t agree with what she likes she gets snippy and FH and I can’t deal with that if she comes with us. I prefer to register for the stuff then go to the stores and show her so she doesn’t give me too much input.

As far as sheets are concerned: what is the thread count that is better than most, the average or what I should be looking for. How many sheets sets should we register for?

Towels: thread count if there is any… How many sets should we register for?

Also is C&B good for bedding? They have some funky sets I kind of like.

Try to find Egyptian Cotton Sheets...they are so soft. They're a little expensive, but hey...you only register once...go for the best! And register for two sets...

As for towels...I registered for 12 Bath, 12 Hand and 12 Fingertip but they didn't all fit in my linen closet. I stored some...they will definately all get used eventually.

One note about registering for linens - they are very seasonal especially at Crate and Barrell. Unless you expect your shower to be in the next few months (sorry I didnt look at your profile) I would stick to a store that has a larger linen dept.

Fran my date is 3/5/04. I guess I shouldn't bother to register for bedding at C&B till the winter? I guess when I go in on Sunday, they can tell us what is the best to do.

just make sure the sheets are more than 250 thread count

Egyptian cotton is wonderful, especially when they say combed egyptian cotton. I always look for 250 and up, but how I love it when they are over 300 -- ooh lala. Although some are beter than others, thread count or not.
FOr instance if you compare a Ralph Lauren 250 thread count to a Tommy Hilfiger one, there is a huge difference, RL is much softer, so you may want to cop a feel when deciding just to make sure

When registering for sheets, register for the highest thread count possible, they are super soft and you only register once!

As for how many, after you are married, will you be using the same size If so register for at least 4 sets

Also anything that has Sateen in it, is probably nice and silky

egyptian cotton is really good, most stores have suggestions for how many types of sheets and towels you need. There is no need for your mother to put input on the items, you and your fiance are the ones that will be using the stuff, not her....my sister let my mom have her way and as a result she ended up with no registry(and duplicates of towels)

Please my mother tries to get her way but I never let her. That’s the main reason we clash so much. I am too open in my feelings and choose to please myself first over everyone else’s input. If I let her, my wedding would be exactly what SHE wants!

its good your doing that. cause i see my mother always gets her way with my sister(whos been married for a few years). and you know what i see has happened?? It creates problems with her husband! yet my sister still lets my mom get her way.... me & fiance feel bad for my brother in law. My mother goes over their numerous days of the week, talks to her on the phone everyday, and when she comes over she just walks in the door witout the doorbell or knocking!
