My FH and I don't want to register for china. We both think it's a waste. Why the hell have 12 expensive place settings that you will probably never use. The FH also says we aren't rich we don't need to have plates to put on show. But some family members insists that we get it. Does anyone else think the same way???

Re: Registering for china???
we weren't planning on getting China. we think it is just way too expensive, and we would rather have other things. But we were just given china, so I'm excited!

Re: Registering for china???
were not... for a couple of reasons
1. we live in my parents house with a barely there kitchen and no table yet.. why do we need china??
2. when we finally buy something its going to be at least 2-3 years from now and thats just something else we need to keep packed up for 'when we move out'
3. id rather register for stuff that we are really going to use and need.
4. i found some great FULL service for 12 sets on HSN and QVC and their about $130 for EVERYTHING... no need to spend thousands. jmo!

Re: Registering for china???
I have china already. We definitely need it and 12 place settings because I like to entertain but if it's not for you then that is fine too. I know if I don't register for it I'll kick myself

if you two don't want it- dont get it! Its your choice! Who cares if people think you should have it. You two know better what you two need.

I agree, do whatever you like. I am getting China but then again I know I'll use it...I just got used to do things the way my mom did, with certain things lol...SHe has everyday china, and then formal china that she ALWAYS uses whenever we have people over for dinner, holidays or whatever.

Re: Registering for china???
it sounds like you feel very strongly about it...
If your family wants you to register for it and you don't - maybe register for a set that's dishwasher, microwave, and oven-safe and use it as your everyday dishes..
Or register for the opposite - some ridiculously expensive China that you KNOW no one will buy you....
Or just say no, and 'what I register for is none of your business.'
edited for grammar
also edited to say I don't feel the same way - I will use my China for every holiday I host and all birthdays/graduations/anniversaries etc...

I registered for casual china - its more expensive than regular everyday dishes, but not $150 a place setting im 33 years old and its not something i need or think i will get use out of my sister has been married 9 years and she's never used hers yet - any time i would use them, i would have way more than 12 people

Re: Registering for china???
we registered for it and already got 11 place settings. I put 18 down cause with Fh's family and mine it's about 16 and then with other guest I'll need more. I know I will use it all the time. And like Denise said I got used to how my mother did it. She uses hers all the time.

Re: Registering for china???
We registered for it and I cannot wait to start receiving it as gifts! My parents and grandparents use theirs a lot so in the future I hope to do the same! Now I just have to learn how to cook!
