Registering for China?

Original post by CrisiDrue

What do you ladies think about registering for China? I really want to, but my FMIL & FH's cousin & sister are trying to talk me out of it. Every time the registry is mentioned they say something about it being on the registry.

I think I will use it, definately at Thanksgiving & Christmas & special occasions, but they keep telling me it'll never happen. I am an idiot for wanting to register for it?

I registered for Lenox China and I do not think there is anything wrong with it. Thus far, I have not really discussed the registry with anyone except my FH. On Thursday to my surprise, we received two place settings. I personally think it is something nice to have. My mom always breaks it out for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

My parents, siblings, and cousins ALL use their china for holidays and special occasions. It was a 'must have' on my registry!

Do what YOU want, now what they want. It's YOUR registry. If they don't like it, they don't have to buy it for you!

I've thought about registering for casual china instead because of the cost per place setting of the fine china I want. The only things that I REALLY want on my registry is the fine china, All Clad pots & pans, & a really good knife set. All the other little stuff I don't care about b/c FH & I have the other crap b/c I've been on my own for a long time & we've been living together for almost 3 years.

I almost feel like I'm being greedy b/c the big stuff on my registry is so expensive. But I would rather have the big items that are really good & will last forever instead of registering for an 'okay' set of pots & pans. Other than that, we have everything else!

I couldnt imagine not registering for China....we use it all the time at my parents house and I know I will do the same. If you want to get it and will use it, then do it and dont take anyone's crap for it. They dont have to buy it for you!

It's no one else's business what you put on your registry except you and your FH, put it on there if for no other reason than if no one buys it for you, you can get it yourself after the wedding with a discount!

My china is the first thing I registered for. It will always make you remeber this time in your life when you use it. Plus...my mom always uses her china...so I know I will use mine also.

I agree 100%

i agree with the rest of the ladies - its up to you and is none of anyones business....

I DO have to say though - if you are EVER gonna want to have good china - this is when you are 'supposed' to get it. Most women DO register for it and keep the china their entire lives!

PLUS not only do you use it on holidays - but you can always use it for special date night with FH.
