registering for crystal
i just started registering and registered for a set of 12 in my china and the saleswoman told me I should register for 3 pieces of stemware for each setting (goblet, wine glass and flute) at $15 (which is sale price) I feel that that is alot and I wont get some of the other stuff i really need, did everyone do this to complete a set or should I just do one or 2?

Re: registering for crystal
We registered for champagne flutes, highball, goblet & beverage.but we didnt register for china so we did all our crystal. but i know how you feel. it takes alot from your other gifts if people buy all of these.

Re: registering for crystal
I registered for 12 pieces also, and the 3 types of crystal glasses. I got everything and then some...Don't feel funny about doing that. I did at first, between my engagement, shower & wedding my registry is just about completed. Go for it......

Re: registering for crystal
I think it depends on how much you are registering for, how many people will be giving you gifts and how much you want them. I do not think there are 'rules' towards what to register for.I have been living on my own for quite some time so there were a lot of things I already had. Then some thing are so old I wanted to replace them. Then there were things I needed. Then there are things I would really like to have. I considered china and crystal in that category. I registered for 12 beverage glasses and 12 goblets. I didn't really want champagne glasses because I figured I would never use them and wanted other things more. I had my shower over the weekend and I got all my crystal (FI grandparents bought it all).
You can also think of your registry as your wish list but then if you don't get things you really need and get other things that are nice but you don't need you may be disappointed or wind up spending a lot of $$$ future. I have seen it happen.

Re: registering for crystal
I only registered for 2 types of crystal stemware (wine and goblet) but I also registered for crystal high ball glasses and double old fashions.

Re: registering for crystal
I registered for everything, and I am glad... I had my shower this past weekend and got it all... and then some. The registry was more of a 'wish' list not a requirement for people... but I know a lot of my family members wanted to get me the 'good' stuff, because they know I would never buy it for myself in a million years, and now I don't have to.

Re: registering for crystal
I did register for the 3 pieces for each place setting - flute, wine, and goblet. We chose a Lenox pattern at Fortunoff for $14.99 each. We did get them all, so that was great.

Re: registering for crystal
We jsut registered for goblets-- we figure we will never need to serve champagne and the goblets can be used for wine or water etc. We chose Waterford so it is $59 a glass.

Re: registering for crystal
We just registered for the goblets. I know we will never use the champagne glasses and figured wine can easily go into the goblets. I think it depends on what you want you really want. I love the glasses but know I will only use them a couple of times a year.

Re: registering for crystal
We registered for the goblets. wine and iced beverages in our Waterford pattern. Yes, they are pricey, but as someone else said my family is all about buying the tradional wedding gifts of china and crystal for shower gifts so go for it! You have nothing to lose...only fabulous crystal to gain!

Re: registering for crystal
I registered for crystal in sets of 12 as well (goblet, beverage, flute and wine). Whatever I don't get, I can occassionally buy from time to time.It doesn't hurt to put it on your registry.

Re: registering for crystal
We registered for it all. My thought was that these are the types of things that you have for life. Later down the road I just might have a large dinner party or holidays (when I have a home) that I would need it all for.

Re: registering for crystal
wow maybe i will then, there are the same lenox $14.99 ones as you annie.I decided though that maybe i might not register for everyday plates which at fortunoff are almost as expensive as the china, you can get a set so much cheaper my mom told me plus I want crazy about the patterns and almost forcing myslef to pick one so my mom said she'd buy me them from somewhere else giving more options for people to buy the other stuff.
Thanks guys, this registering is alot harder than i thought.

Re: registering for crystal
Register for what you want. If you dont get all your crystal you can exchange pieces to fill up your settings. I think most people look at wine and goblets first if they are giveing crystal and then move on to champagne if those are already purchased. At least this way everyone will know what pattern what you want and you wont end up with 12 diferent wine glasses.Welcome New Vendors
