Registering for e-party?

Registering for e-party?

Hi everyone, our date is 12-4-10. Our e-party is on 1-23-10. I just sent out the invites to our e-party and a few people have asked if we registered for anything yet. I've been to a few e-parties before but always just gave cash. We were planning on registering eventually, but closer to the shower. Has anyone registered for their e-party and if so, what kinds of things are appropriate to register for?

The same thing happened to us. We wanted money, but everyone was asking where we were registered and we didn't want random stuff so we needed to start our registries for the eparty and then I am going to add more before the shower.

We did not want to register before the e-party because we wanted cash to put towards the HM. We also are already in a house and don't need a lot of registry items. But even if we didn't have the house, we still would've preferred cash for the e-party. hth

We registered before the e-party, although I'm not sure our guests got the memo, because less then 1/4 of them brought gifts. we didn't really care, though, since we already have a house and don't really need much.

people may not want to give cash-and will bring a gift that you may not want or need. we registered before our eparty. we got a lot of stuff from registry but also got cash too.

i personally like to give gifts for e-parties and showers and then give cash for the wedding so i see where your guests are coming from. my FH and i registered for the same things we would register for if we were registering for our shower - home goods, china, kitchen supplies, etc.

I think it's good to give people the option - gift or money. don't register for anything you don't need/want bc that's a waste.

We registered as a request from some family members.

We didn't want to register for our engagement party either b/c we wanted cash, but we also didn't want to get random gifts from those that wouldn't give cash. So we registered but only told people where we were registered if specifically asked. Most people gave us cash anyway, but at least those that did give us gifts gave us what we wanted!

We registered for a few items prior to the e-party. I wouldnt register for bedding or dishes or anything you might change your mind about -- b/c then you might end up with 3 settings and what if you dont want the rest by the time of your shower.

I actually just had my e-party on Friday. We didn't register. I really don't know what I'm going to want in a year from now for a house I don't have yet. Most people gave us cash. Out of about 100 people we maybe got 5 or 6 gifts. Mostly frames and champagne glasses. They were all beautiful and I will definitely use them. I think that if people want to give u gifts, they can buy something like frames or glasses and they will be beautiful. I also got gift receipts with the gifts but we will not be returning anything.

Our eparty is Saturday and we registered only because we didn't want people buying us random stuff. Some people have asked us where we are registered so we figured that they wanted to bring a gift instead of cash.

We did our registry before our e-party and received a combination of cash and gifts.

Same here, we registered for a few items, but not because of the e-party and wound up getting gifts and cash even tho we did'nt ask for gifts.

Most people like to give cash b/c they understand you're just starting out and it helps a lot.

we registered before our e-party, we did not put anything in the invitations saying that we were registered, but we got tons of gifts off the registry - it worked out well because the people that got us gifts bought off the registry and we did not get a million lenox frames (like my friends got at their e-party's)

Re: Registering for e-party?

we received 100% cash (except for a silver platter and bowl set from my cousin that was in addition to cash)....

we did a SMALL registry before our eparty (about 10 items) for things such as picture frames, ice cream machine, etc....

when people asked, we said we have not registered yet and were planning on doing so for the party...

I guess that kind of gave people the message and the plan worked because it was all $$!!!

I would register for a VERY SMALL handful of things this way, incase someone DOES get you a gift, it can be something you actually want!

We didn't register b/c we wanted cash, and for the most part, that's what we got.
