Registering for your HM??

Did anyone do this? How does it work? Good idea or bad idea?

I know Liberty Travel offers this option. I didn't book through them, but when I told family members they all said they would have given me a gift towards the honeymoon. This is a great idea especially if you already own a house together and pretty much have all household items.

Great idea! I'm doing it at www.thehoneymoon.com that way I can book my honeymoon, then just plug in what we want. A check gets sent to us in the end!

so people just pay money to the Travel agent and it deducts off the final cost?

I've heard some very mixed reactions to this. Some people consider it similar to asking for cash.

I'm registered at thebigday.com too, my mom protested... said I should at least put a few traditional items on a fotuneoff registry for any guests who may not like the idea of putting money towards my honeymoon and on the other hand his mom loved the idea. And that's the way it's been...everyone that I've told has had mixed reactions, some think people might be offended while others think it's a great idea. I don't really see how picking out a bunch of items, putting them on a list and asking people to buy them for you is any less offensive then asking people to help you out with your honeymoon, either way your asking for presents. So if someone is offended that I've registered for my honeymoon that's OK...their not obligated to give me anything.

The only bad thing about thebigday.com is that they deduct 9% of the persons donation but they have to make money some how

Re: Registering for your HM??

I had considered this as well. I have my apartment, so we don't need THAT many household things (but registered for them anyway).
I decided not to do it, as I thought it was a bit much to ask for. (Or shall I say, my Mom asked me not to do it b/c she thought it was a bit much) So, I didn't. It sounds like a great idea though!!!!!
