Registering Help

Registering Help

Okay so FH and I registered at Bed Bath and Beyond a few months ago and today we decided to also register at Macy's. We found our china and put it on our Macy's registry. After looking on the BBB site I come to find that a lot of the pieces are cheaper. Not just 10-15 dollars cheaper but 50 - 100 dollars cheaper! FH is telling me to leave it the way it is because he doesn't like BBB although he didn't have a good reason for not liking BBB he just said 'I just don't' (typical!) However....he was the one scanning away when we registered at BBB like 4 months ago! GRR

What would you girls do?

Re: Registering Help

move it to BBB

1) they have a much better return policy

2) we put our china on both registries and 11 place settings were bought at BBB, and one at Macys

3) BBB is cheaper

4) BBB has the 20% off coupons

5) macys has been a PITA to deal with

we registered at BBB, macys and crate n barrel. put everything possible at BBB, crate n barrel has their own stuff which is amazing but constantly being discontinued... and the rest (As little as possible) at macys. they alternate bw sale and full price (sale = bbb price) and we didnt want someone to accidentally overpay. very few people bought anything from our macys registry and the others were almost completed by the time we got married

i really dislike macys... their only pro is we got 5% of what people spent as a giftcard after, but i'd still say bbb is the way to go

If you tell bbb you want to move it they will do it for you.

Re: Registering Help

I'd move it to BBB for a few different reasons, the obvious being if it's cheaper you're more likely to get all of the pieces of china you asked for. BBB has coupons ALL of the time, and if you decide you want to return it for any reason, they have the most leinent return policy I have ever seen. BBB is relatively everywhere lol, Macys I'm sure is also but possibly not around AS much. I'm not a huge BBB fan either, but I think you definitely get much better deals and they're a lot easier to deal with.

BBB because of coupons, and because items are just cheaper from the get go. No brainer

I would move it to the cheaper place plus more people will shop at BBB

But here is an idea you can put it on both that way if you get double pieces or two much you can just return it and get something you didn't get off your registry.

I'd definitely move it. I've never had a problem buying china from BB&B, don't worry!

If you found a set you like at BBB (or it's the same exact one) move it over to BBB. Your guests will appreciate it. But if you found the set at BBB online and you've never seen it in person, make sure you see it first before you decide to register for it, just incase when you see it in person you hate it.

Re: Registering Help

i would just register for the china at BBB. and register for everything else at the other stores you like. I did this too, with my bedding. I Wanted bedding from pottery barn.. I really didnt register for anything else from PB. I registered for the rest at Macys, Target and Fortunoff.

My everyday plates were registered at MAcys, and were expensive.. and guess what??? i didnt get any plates at my shower.. so after my shower, i removed all the plates from the registry, and went online and found something i liked 100% better, and was so much cheaper. Yes, cost will def matter when it comes to people buying you gifts.

I would move it to BB&B. If it's cheaper, you're more likely to get more of it!

ok..i have a different opinion. not that i dont like bed bath and beyond bc i totally love it and can shop all day there...but i would be worried as far as economy goes. look what hapend to linens and things and all the people that registered there. not that BBB will go out of business, but you never know. i cant picture macys going out of business anytime soon. but thats the worry wart in me.

Re: Registering Help

If it's the exact same china, I'd move it to BBB.

I shop in BBB all the time w/ those 20% off coupons, so for us it wasn't an issue. But just to check prices, I did a side-by-side comparison search online with BBB, Macy's, Target, Fortunoff's etc. before registering. Most of the exact same items were cheaper at BBB than the other stores. There were a few items that I only found at Target (my blue wine glasses!!) so I set up a Target registry online for only those items.

Your guests will appreciate finding the same items on your registry for a lower price, esp with the economy downturn. Plus if they use the 20% off coupons, it works out for everyone!
