Registering Recommendations?

Re: Registering Recommendations?

I did Bed Bath & Beyond. If I wanted silverware and fine giftware also, I would have chosen Fortunoff, but I don't really need any of that.

My sister had some problems with Macy's, though she got married four years ago, so maybe they have improved. I've heard some so-so things about them over the years though (reps being very pushy, people getting duplicates and having a hard time returning or exchanging, not being able to delete items chosen in error, etc.).

Well, I would NOT recommend Macy's. I received a letter last night from Macy's in Valley Stream, saying thank you for registering at our store (I only registered online), and then there was a registry attached to my name (all the right contact details, right wedding date, etc.), but the registry was someone else's!! I have been trying all day to get in touch with someone who can help me, and it is been so awful....

I am thinking about deleting my registry at Macy's after this whole experience.

I want to register at Crate & Barrel. I think they have a special thing on Sunday mornings every once in a while where you go in before the store opens to the public. I saw postcards in some bridal magazines where you get a free set of toasting flutes if you go.

I could be wrong, but I think C&B only did that on Sundays in February.

My favorite by far was Crate & Barrel, but had a good experience at Fortunoff too. Macy's was terrible. I went there first and cancelled the registry after going to Fortunoff- I just thought the selection at Macy's was poor (too much of their own brand and not enough of others in the housewares section) and way too much sales pressure.

I also registered at Target and would avoid that too. Returns there are very difficult or impossible if you don't have a receipt. Also, my registry was wiped our 90 days after the wedding with no warning and if you can't return things purchased online to the store - you have to ship them back.

I highly recommend Bed Bath and Beyond. They have a wonderful registry program and now that the stores have fine china, you can get everything there! The thing that is best, you can get cash back on anything that anyone buys you off your registry. So, if it turns out you thought you would like it but you don't, you can return it for CASH, no receipt needed

I am trying to avoid that exact situation. It's inevitable, he doesn't want to go to register, yet he won't let me go alone!!!

I got a question for you girls: about how many places should I register? And if they both carry my china pattern, should I register for 4 at one place and 4 at another? I gotta register at a place for NY and Boston (thinking of Fortunoff and Macys).

My Future MIL suggested Kohls. I'm not sure where to go.

We did this and Macy's. Kohl's has the same exact brands of stuff as all the other places, but they have amazing sales, a lot of times 50% off, plus people get coupons. You'll end up getting the really nice expensive stuff but it won't costs your guests a lot of money.

We registered at Macy's for our China, Flatware, Stemware, and a few others things we couldn't find at Kohl's.

ETA: I just realized we're date twins!

We registered at Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Fortunoff and a few things at Home Depot. I've had good experiences with all of them, except Fortunoff's return policy can be a real pain in the you-know-what sometimes.

Bloomingdales and Fortunoffs. I have a TON of stuff on my registry. I doubt I'll get 1/2 of it
