Registering tips? - Long Island Weddings

If an associate has to follow you around, don't let them convince you into registering for things you don't need. I had to come home and redo my registry online because the store associate said she couldn't leave us alone and then convinced me to add things I didn't want.

This!

And I would say go before and get an idea of what you want. It's surprisingly overwhelming.

Registering tips? - Long Island Weddings

if you are registering in multiple stores, plan ahead. For instance, you may want to do china at macy's and small appliances and kitchen gadgets at bed bath and beyond, things like that.

My other tip would be that AFTER you register in -store, go online at home and check reviews on every item you registered for. You may be surprised at what you read. I ended up switching a few things out after reading online

I'd say, if your not sure if you want a certain item....just scan it and register for it anyway. It's easier to delete things off than to try to remember what you wanted later and look it up online.

Ask the store if they have any reward program. For instance, I think Macys gives you 5% back on things people has bought you + 10% on what you purchase with your Macy's card. Also, as it was mentioned before, read reviews on the items!

Definitely agree with cets to read the reviews. I did that after we registered in the store and deleted everything that got really awful reviews.

Registering tips? - Long Island Weddings

Just remember that you don't have to register for everything all at once. It can seem overwhelming if you go in thinking you have to do it all. We registered in December and I am constantly going back adding and deleting things.

Make sure to register for things that he wants also. FH didn't have a lot of requests, but I made sure that the things he wanted are on our registries.

And lastly, just have fun with it!

Registering tips?

We just did BBB tonight. I did all my kitchen electronics online with my mom the other night and that saved alot of time. We walked out of there crosseyed! Don't do it on a night you can't have some wine after, pick a couple of categories to concentrate on at a time, and don't tell anyone you're going through the process! They all hop on and give you opinions!

The associate at BBB annoyed us. Definitely go with lots of time available. We only did our China and kitchenware – that took over two hours. Even when we told the associate we had to get going, she still insisted on showing us more things. We now edit the list online. I’m hoping Macy’s isn’t as annoying.

The associate at BBB actually helped with the everyday dinner stuff- bc they set everything up for you to make sure it matches. Then we told her we'd do everything else on our own. We just finished ours this weekend- the first time is fun, then it gets overwhelming. I suggest you print out the checklist on the Macys website and keep track of your entire registry with that checklist- it helped A LOT! Have fun!!
