Registering - what do I do?

Registering - what do I do?

Hey all! I need some help -here is the thing FH already has a house for about 10 years now and we have been dating for the past 5 - over the past 5 years, I have developed a love for cooking and bought many kitchen/cooking accessories. 2 years ago I even bought an entire set of 12 everyday dishes that I fell in love with that I keep there. So what do I register for??

I know registering isn't only kitchen stuff, but it is a big part of it....and the thing we REALLY need is $$$! We want to re-do the entire house! Total gut and redo. At this point we need bedroom stuff, furniture and accessories..but I see no point in registering for accessories when I don't know what the new BR will look like! and who registers for FURNITURE?? So any suggestions on what else to do, is there a way to ask people to give $$$ for like a house fund or a honeymoon? What can I register for?

HONEYMOON REGISTRY, BABY!

I'm using honeymoonwishes.com!

Here's ours, if you want to take a peek...

you get the $$ back of what you already laid out. It's like a reimbursement for your honeymoon!

I haven't had my shower or anything yet, so no one has purchased anything off of it yet.

That really is AWESOME - did you write all the specifics or the site is prefilled with Disney stuff?

Now what do you mean the stuff you laid out - you already paid for all that stuff and if someone buys it for you THEN you get your $$$ back?

You could register at like either Lowes or Home Depot or a place like that and make it a 'Fix the House' Shower, or something along those lines. I know someone who made up a basket like that and they put all gift cards to Home Depot inside with a bunch of tools and other 'home fixing' things

Thanks! No... I wrote all that stuff myself. I worked with the person in charge of the website to make it as personal and 'Disney' as possible!

With the honeymoon registry, you're not necessarily waiting and banking on someone paying for your airline tickets before you know if you're going on your honeymoon or not! You pay for everything... then you assign your own amounts to items so your guest feel like they're buying you some'THING' (and not just cash). Then... when you 'open' your gift... you can say... 'Wow!! Aunt Rose bought us our first night's dinner on our honeymoon night!'... or 'Our friend so-and-so got us our plane tickets!' I think it's awesome! But you pay for EVERYTHING... and then you get 'reimbursed' for what you laid out.

Yes - That is very nice to have an actual gift to say instead of just money! Very great idea! Thank you so much! I will speak to FH about this, I am sure he will LOVE it! :)

We also have our house.

I registered at Home Improvement stores. Home Depot, Sears.

We told our closest friends/family that cash and gift cards were the best.

They know we have everything already. We even have to do a yard sale to get rid of all the duplicates.

we registered for furniture. i kid you not. we are in the exact same position you are and my friends said, 'you should register for it and we'll go in on it together.' who knows if they will or not, but look at it this way: if nobody buys it, most places give you a 10% buy out discount at the end. you can use any wedding money you get to buy it yourself at a discount.
