Is it too early for FH and I to register? We aren't having an engagement party but I'm wondering if we should register before the holidays in case family members want to buy us stuff from the list. Also I think I just can't wait
ETA: Where are you ladies registering??

Re: Registering - When and Where
I would put some stuff on. After the holidays you can go back and adjust what you didn't get for newer models, etc. But it's totally your call. It's not a necessity. If you don't have room for all the new stuff just yet...then hold off. People will give you cash instead!!! That's never a bad thing!! hahaha.

Well you could register as soon as you want. But sometimes when you register so early and the product no longer available b/c things gets discontinued.. theres where the problem comes up.. But it would be a good idea to register if you think family will get you guys stuff for the hoildays:) I registered in Fortunoff and Macy's.. Fortunoff b/c they have nice china and macys b/c they have discount on bridal items like veils, BM dresses and jewelry..

We registered with in a month of getting engaged. We also are not having an e-party.We aren't getting married until 10/17/09. We registered at Bed Bath & Beyond. I am constantly adding things. People have bought us some things off of it.

Re: Registering - When and Where
I would hold off on things like dishes and linens. We registered right away because of our engagement party. We got some of our dishes for our engagement party then the company discontinued them, so I had to buy all the remaining dishes or return the ones I have and pick out new ones. I loved my dishes so my mom and I bought them and they are going to be presents from my parents for every holiday for the next two years. But I will get them all. My silverware also got discontinued just after the engagement party. If I had picked the linens I wanted then they would have been discontinued as well. And its not the stores faults, its the manufacturers.
Things that discontinue like dishes/silverware/linens I would wait. Save your sanity.
I registered at Fortunoffs and BBB. FH wants to add Sears or Loews and I want to add Macys. But we will see.

Re: Registering - When and Where
I think its ok to register. You can add more stuff at anytime so if you want to put on the standard things now like pots and pans, glasses, coffee maker etc.. stuff that wont change and hold off on things like dishes, bathroom accessories and so that might change as your wedding gets closer. I personally thinks its very time consumig so to do it in stages is much easier :)
I registered at BBB

Re: Registering - When and Where
I think it's good to register now. Keep it as a word of mouth thing until the shower. We registered back in August (trust me, it was my because of my mom's insiting) but I have to say, people keep asking if we registered and we've already gotten a few gifts. You can always add to the registry later. Also its good to register for items with a big range of price points so everyone has something they can get. We registered at Fortunoff & Crate and Barrel.
Good luck!

Re: Registering - When and Where
I don't think its too early at all and its a great idea to do it before the holidays.. i am sure some people would get you a gift off of the registry. FH and I registered in June which was way early...but we ended up getting everything on there at our e-party
