so i am finally registering this weekend - though i have already put a few things on through on-line.
so i am telling my FH's mom that i put a dyson vaccuum on - being that we just bought new carpets. and she tells me that she knows that i am getting a dyson for my shower - and for me to take it off the registry. that the people buying it for me will not be getting it from bed bath & beyond and it would be a sin if 2 people got it for me.
now i agree that would be terrible if 2 people showed up to give me a $500 vaccuum @ my shower -and maybe its me still being cautious because of all the disapointments i have received lately - but i dont want to.
a- what if the people buying it change their minds and i get screwed out of it? b- if i take it off - does it look like i know i got it - or maybe they will think i dont want it that badly. c - if i did get 2 i could always return one for store credit.
am i being a b!tch? should i just take it off the registry?? or do you agree that i should just leave it on and deal with any problems later?
and another factor is - i do not want to piss off FMIL - since the people she knows are getting it are her girlfriends. what do you think?
HELP!

Re: registry..
That's a tough one, I'm in a similar situation, my FMIL told me she'd buy me my Electrolus, most likely not from Fortunoff.
I left it on the registry for now though since it hasn't been purchased yet.
Maybe FMIL is the one who bought your vacuum for you, not from BB&B.

Re: registry..
If I were you, I would leave it on the registry on the off chance someone does NOT get it for you as told. It's your registry. If you end up getting 2, return one and buy other things you need.

Yep I left it on!
If you get two of them, you can always return one.

I agree....I would leave it on. I doubdle registered for some things, and if I got doubles I just returned them for something else on my registry - no big deal.

Re: registry..
Leave it on and if you get two BB&B gives you CASH back for items that were on your registry....

Re: registry..
You should try and find out who the 'someone' is....
Only reason I am saying is because I had the same thing happen over my Kitchenaid. My mother said 'someone' got it, but from Kohl's not Fortunoff's (where I had registered for it). She told me to take it off. I was a little freaked out because like you said, what if they said they got it, but didn't? It's the one thing I really wanted.
Turns out, it was my mother who got it for me. And I am glad I took it off because I know my other friend was eyeing getting it for me. I wouldn't have wanted to return one. That things heavy!! hehe

I agree ... why annoy her with this? She's going to think you don't believe her - that someone is getting it for you. If you don't get it - which I doubt - you can always return other stuff to get it.
It's an expensive gift that she is probably proud that her friends are giving to you - I wouldn't squash this...

Re: registry..
When I registered at BB&B they advised not to remove anything from the registry. What if the item is faulty or heaven forbid - you don't get the model you wanted. Wait till after your shower and see what happens - you can always remove it after.

Leave it on!!! BB&B allows you to return things on your registry for cash.

Re: registry..
My step-mom did the same thing. I took it off.
Edit: I hate to be a guest at a shower when the bride-to-be opens the same gift I got for her from someone else.

Leave it on, if you get 2, return one. Tell FMIL that there is some problem at BB&B and they can't remove it off your registry!

Re: registry..
I would call up BB&B and act like you forgot to give them the registry number when the vaccum was purchased so they can notate that the vaccum is needed but purchased. I am sure your FMIL would be dissappointed if someone else bought the vaccuum if you left it on there. It would take the thunder and pleasure away from her friends giving it to you. IMO

Re: registry..
leave it for now. if you really get one at the shower, you can remove it then...worse comes to worse, you get 2, make a joke and you return one and get something else!
