my fi & i are registering next weekend. i was all excited about it until i started compiling a list. i've been anxious about it ever since. i mean, how am i supposed to know how many dishes to register for? daily vs. more formal? do we register for more wine glasses than martini glasses? do we register for ivory formal settings so that as the years go by and we need more dishes we can get 'fun' stuff to go with it?

Dont worry you can always exchange what you get if you change your mind.

Re: registry anxiety
I think you should try to relax if possible! No worries! I think most people register for 10 place settings. We registered for 12 place settings of formal china. FH has a biiig family, but really how many people will you ever have over for a formal affair at once? Even if you have more people you can always borrow and mix your stuff together with other family members. I think we only registered for 8 sets of everyday dishes. I would say you should get as many wine glasses as your formal place settings. But depending what your friends/family are like, you probably do not need that many martini glasses. Good luck!

Re: registry anxiety
Remember that you can always go on and change your registry online. Ours looks so different from when we first went to the stores. We also ended up registering in 3 places because one store didn't have all the things we liked. I didn't like registering very much, but it's definately worth it!

12 place settings for all glasses, flatware and china
dont worry- once you decide if you like the item, you can change quantities online easily! the important thing is seeing what you like in person.
i change my registry daily!

Try to relax sweetie! This could be fun for you and your FH! We registered for 12 china place settings. We didn't register for everyday dishes because we already have some. Once you see stuff you like, put it on the registry. As others have already said, you can go online and add/change things.

Re: registry anxiety
When you register you'll meet w/ someone from the store who will give you a list, some tips, answer questions, make suggestions - but in the end just get whatever you want! It's one of the best parts of the wedding planning!

Re: registry anxiety
HONESTLY....I wish I could be the bearer of good news but registering was DEFINITELY not one of my highlights in planning this wedding! They give you a LONG list of things that you have no clue about! Your best bet is take your time - it's a LENGTHY process! Also, just double scan items and don't drive yourself crazy trying to remember what you scanned where. When you're all done in the stores, take a day to go over everything online. That was the best way for us! GOOD LUCK!!!

Re: registry anxiety
So funny, I just had this conversation with my friend about 45 mins. ago (she's getting married this December. I said the same thing. She said that she pretty much went into the store and asked the salesperson to do it for her because she had no idea what she was doing, and he practically did everything for her. It was at BB&B.
