is anyone doing this? fh wants to do it and i thought it was a bad idea at the time but we want to buy this house that needs work done and we're going to do it ourselves so we're gonna need a lot of tools, etc. do you think anyone will buy us stuff from it?

Re: Registry at Home Depot?
Def do it - my friend was doing the same thing, and I just went to CVS and bought a Home Depot gift card there.
I also liked the Sears idea b/c you can get tools and home stuff there.
Or I'd do a TEENY website somewhere (BBB or wherev) and then have your MOH spread the word that you'd really like stuff from Home Depot.

I think that is a FANTASTIC idea. You have no idea how much money you will be pouring into your house. Especially if you don't have tools or anything to start with. If we didn't' already have a garage full of tools I would totally do this.
I have a MyRegistry and LOVE it. I'm adding stuff on there that I can't find on Macys Registry which is more for the older folks who aren't tech savvy. But it's great because I can add items from all over the world wide web and even local stores. Guests don't have to shop at the specific sites I link to . Just the specific item. So I can register for Wusthof knives from Amazon but they can walk into Macys and buy it then just go onto our MyRegistry and mark it as purchased.

Me and FH planned to this. We recently bought a house and are doing a lot of work on it.... but when we went to HD to register, they said they no longer have gift registries. =/
Is this not the case anymore?

Re: Registry at Home Depot?
I'm also using myregistry.com and my fiance did end up registering for a few things from home depot. We have lived together for a few years in an apartment and will be moving into a new house right before the wedding. Since we already have most of the basics like dinnerware, we figured we'd rather get stuff to help us fix up our new house (trust me, there's a lot to be fixed up!). We also registered for a 'renovations fund' on myregistry.com so that people can just give us cash to go towards fixing up the house if they want. I don't think it's weird at all so go for it!
