I am a white wine drinker. FH drinks red. We both like champagne.Do we really need 12 white, 12 red and 12 champagne glasses?!

What did everyone else do for glassware in terms of number per type of glass?

We did 12 red and white. And we dont really drink wine. It was one of those things we felt like we 'should' get in case we ever have company over lol.

yea look for the ones that say all purpose, but that can be red or white.. my mom got our glasses for us because they had a deal on HSN- we got 12 iced beverage, 12 white, and 12 red, but they were like $80 for a set of 12! we did marquis by waterford because they are still nice but were more affordable

We just registered for 8 goblets lol is that bad? We like red and white, never have champagne. We don't do very much formal entertaining, so I didn't think it was necessary. You should register for what you need! I was stuck on okay, when will I need 12 wine glasses--even if my entire extended family comes over, will everyone be drinking wine? If so, even 12 isn't enough...and where do they expect me to put 36 formal drinking glasses?!
Not to mention, if you are doing that big of an entertaining thing, are you risking taking out your formal drinking glasses with all that potential for breakage?

I feel like we did 8 and 8. I'm not sure if that good or bad haha I feel like half of the stuff we registered for is too much!

We have a lot of memorabilia glassware for sporting teams, places we've gone together and common interests. Since we registered for china, we did 12 of the nice glasses (that I plan on keeping at my parents until we have a house) and then 4 white and 4 red. We also got stemless glassware for our engagement party. Realistically, if we need more for entertaining purposes I can always go out and buy them myself. I just didn't want to use up that much space for things I may never need or register for too many items I didn't need when there are so many things we do need since we've both always lived at home.

We did 8 red and 8 white. I figured with the random collection of glasses (aka 2 matching red glasses, from the set of 4 that we already broke 2 annnnd random white wine glasses we get a wineries that give free glasses) we already have, it would be good to have at least that many that will match.
such classiness HAHAHAHA

We just did a set of 8 goblets. It's too much stuff to store that won't get used regularly.

To be honest, just request what you will think u need and will use. My sister in law requested every type of glassware that existed and she said she rarely uses any of it. I've lived on my own now for over 10 years and I've had so many get together/parties and I don't even own half of what I see people register for. Sometimes I sit at bridal showers and think, 'you wil never use that' as I watch people open gifts, lol. Just my opinion, but having over 50 glasses is just outta control!

I am so glad you asked this question because when the lady at BB&B suggested 12 settings and sets of glassware I was like wth??? You just reminded me to change the quantity. I would prefer people buy something else. We won't be using formal ware until we have our home and that's unfortunately not in the cards for us any time soon. I agree with another board memeber that stated even if you have all those guests, you're leaving yourself open to have it ruined. For me 8 is more than enough even if that.

I helped a lot of brides with registries when I worked at Pier 1 Imports. I always recommend 12 piece because if you break one or two over the years, you'll still have enough to host a large dinner party. And if you're having more than that, get disposable dishes lol. But that's why stores suggest large numbers, so you have back up. Patterns frequently turn over so rather than having to get a whole new set, it's better to have the 12. Unless you are like my sister who changes her mind on things all the time, go for 8. She's changed her kitchen twice in the 10 year she's been married and got new dishes to go with it haha

I registered for 12 water goblets, and 12 white wine glasses for my fine china. We figured we dont drink red and if a guest does we could give them a red wine glass of just use the white. We then registered for everyday wine glasses and drinking glassesWelcome New Vendors
