So FH told me that a lot of his friends were asking about our registry and he told them as far as he knew, registry stuff is only for girls going to the bridal shower!! He told me with such confidence, very happy that he knew a little something about wedding stuff; he's too cute but I was about to But it got me thinking..what's the norm? Do guys typically buy stuff from the registry as well? If they do, how would they give it to us (do they give it to him? hold a groom-shower)? Do they bring it to the wedding? Or do they usually not buy anything?

Re: Registry for boys
Actually, FH's friend who was an usher bought us our microwave and griddle from our registry!
Everyone else from his side ( the boys) went off the Honeymoon registry or did checks
My boy's also did HM or checks

Well i feel like a registry is really is a guide to help those who want to get you a gift for your future together as a couple. It can be used for enaggement gift/shower gift/wedding gift. I feel like its kind of a Long Island/NY thing that we only use these gifts for the shower and get cash for the wedding, thats not very typical in other states.

Re: Registry for boys
We got gifts from his friends and family at the engagement party and some of his friends from work asked where we were registered to send gifts...
We registered for stuff we both wanted and he put some Jets stuff on there too!

Re: Registry for boys
we got gifts from our registry for our e-party and obvi will get them for the shower. most of the gifts were from couples so i guess girls AND boys technically purchased from it, you know? ive never heard of a separate one for the men! hth!

Re: Registry for boys
FH asked if he could register at Home Depot. All I could think of was opening a circular saw at my shower!! LOL

This is EXACTLY what I was going to say!

Re: Registry for boys
I agree that it may be a NY/LI thing the way we use the registry, but I definately think men use the registry as well. I went with FH to a few of his friends weddings and he picked the items off the registry himself (in fact he went back to their registtry to take a look when we were doing ours).
I was surprised that he was using it as a wedding gift, but I figured hey, no one bought the stuff yet but its obvious they wanted it so why not!?
