Registry Help

FH and I are no good at this whole gift registry thing.
Can you ladies share with me your specific MUST have items?
Preferably with a link to the item either from BBB or Fortunoff?

If you'd be willing to FM your registry info so that i can browse it, that would be wonderful too. I swear I'm not trying to stalk you.

We're just at a total loss. We know the types of things to register for, just not the proper way to do it, or what specific types are good.
For example...
we have no idea what kind of iron to register for
types of towels...
stuff like that.

(specific china patterns don't need to be posted, i don't think we're doing china)

Re: Registry Help

iron/ironing board
vaccum/ hand vaccum like the shark

corningwere/pyrex great for storing food and measuring and cooking in...

bakeware pans cookie sheets bundt pans

pots

everyday dishes usually service for 12 but if you are not doing fine china maybe you might want service for 16 incase something breaks because just think 4 years from now or more your pattern of everyday dishes can be disscontinued and then your set of 12 will be incomplete
which is not a big deal to some but to others it is...

flatware

blender mixer hand mixer

towels bathroom stuff

sheets bedding

luggage

giftcards

i have the list of all the stuff i'm supposed to register for.
but i know nothing about any of those things...
what makes something a good iron?
what are good towels?
do i register for expensive pillows that i love? or does that look pretentious?

i'm a Walmart/Payless kind of gal. I'd never buy 80% of the stuff on my registry bc it's too expensive for me. I don't know what reasonably priced registry items are.

Is it okay to have a few things over $100? what about $200?
we registered for one BIG BIG thing, the iJoy chair, but that's just to get a discount on when we complete the registry.
i don't think we're registering for fancy china which is what is usually the most expensive on the registries i've seen.
does that mean we can register for a more expensive blender?

that kind of stuff is what i'm having trouble with.

thanks for the list though!

Re: Registry Help

what we did was mostly upgrade what we already have. We've lived together for 4 and a half years....but we have the usual crappy towels, etc...so we went for BETTER towels...go to the store - feel them out...that's the best way to do towels.

We registered for things like nicer sheets & bed sets, practical things we could use around the house.....upgraded our microwave (that FH has had since he FIRST moved out of his parents house - we're talking 15 years now) & same thing with our toaster oven...got a better one on the registry...

Go for things you know you will use... It's fine to have some stuff over 100 & even 200 - you may find that a group of friends may combine to get you the pricey items...

Hope this helps!!!!

Re: Registry Help

you can definitely register for a few things around the $100 mark or even higher. family usually spends a little more and people can go in on group gifts as well.

i usually go with things that my mom has or likes, that's how i picked a lot of things. but there are certain aspects of products i just liked myself. maybe do a little research?

You already got the ONLY item from my registry I want.....the mixer LMAO.

I'm the same way as you, I wouldn't really buy a lot of the stuff myself and when I do, I usually go to Walmart or have a coupon for BB&B etc..

I think you need an equal amount in terms of prices. It doesn't hurt to put a few things over 200 because there will be some people that buy gifts as a group/family. I put a lot of thngs under 100 because I wanted to be reasonable.

if you need knives I completely recommend henckels, I didn't know how crappy my old ones were until we got our new set.

That's good to hear I think thats the one we registered for because the prices were reasonable. I can't see spending THAT much on knives.

amazon.com has customer reviews of almost every item imagineable. Type in the type of blender/ toaster/ knife set you want, and you can read customer reviews of people who have the items to get a better idea of what is great and what is just craptastic.

Re: Registry Help

and it is good to have a lot of items that vary in price on the registry...also with the completion program even if you do not get everything at your shower you can get a percentage off on the stuff that you want after your wedding so it is better to have more to take advantage of that incentive...

people chip in for items so do not be worried about having bigger priced items
