FH and I are going to register next week. We're thinking of Macy's and Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I have a few check lists of things from magazines, but I'm really worried that we're going to be overwhelmed and not know what to put on there. I'm also wondering how to split things up between the two stores. Did anyone else feel overwhelmed when they went to register? Any advice would be helpful. TIA

Re: Registry help
i think registering was so exciting - i had to take that registering gun away from FH a few times - for adding ridiculous things, but then i realized its his wedding too so if he wants the cute pint sized ice cream holders, then not a problem , but i would check BBB first - they have an amazing checklist and you can go section by section, just make sure you have enough time to go thru the store (few hours) and dont forget to breathe - you will be fine

Re: Registry help
We registered at Macy's & BBB. We did our china and flatware and some serving pieces form Macy's and evertything else at BBB. I would check with BBB if you are ordering china because they carry most of what Macy's has, maybe a little cheaper. GL!!! It is so much fun. Remeber if there is something you want that is a lot of money register for it anyway!! BBB gives you a percentage off after the wedding.

Re: Registry help
a little bit but each give you a checklist to guide you- start at one and see what they have you like. for example we liked everyday dishes better at bed bath and little gadgets so got that there but liked towels better at macys.
it will be fun- do not worry!!!

I registered at BB&B and Macy's too and both places were so helpful. Not only did they give you a check list but for me and the china she stayed withe us and walked us though all the options! Registering is a lot of fun and you will deff enjoy it!

We did BB&B and Macys too. Went to BB&B and walked through the store adding everything we liked. They give you a helpful checklist. Also, if go through section by section, you're reminded of thigns you didn't think of. Then a few weeks later I went online and changed/deleted/added things.
I did Macys online, because I just did China, stemware and 'fancy' silverware, luggage, a few vases, picture frames.

Re: Registry help
I did BBB, Fortunoff & Bloomingdales
I started at BBB for applicances and basics because of the 20% off.
I then wen to Bloomingdales for the upscale different things like frames, serving platters, etc.
I went to Fortunoff for dishes, crystal, etc.
After you set them up, you can switch and add things on each online. It took me quite a few days to get it the way I want it so that each had a variety to choose from.
They all told me if I am inviting 200 guests to the wedding, make sure there are at least 2 gifts per person so there is plenty to choose from.

Re: Registry help
We had registries with BB&B and Crate and Barrel. While we had lists that both stores gave us, and did some scanning while in the stores, we would add items or delete items online. To me, that was the easiest since I could open up both pages of our registries and compare at the same time. Using their websites made it really easy.

Re: Registry help
I went to Crate and Barrel first, and put the majority of my things on there, then went to Bed Bath and Beyond to make up the difference. While Bed Bath and Beyond is nice for a lot of odds and ends, it won't have as much and as nice of a selection as Macy's. Maybe you should go to Macy's first and put as much on there as you want, and then go to Bed Bath and Beyond to make up the rest.

Re: Registry help
at BBB i actually had someone walk with us throughout the store and gave us pointers and helped us pick out what we needed. Plus, they give a great check list!!

Re: Registry help
We regerstered for everything possible. We did Macys, BB&B, and Target. Once we got home (well a couple of days after) I went on their websites and compared prices. The more expensive ones I took off and changed it for the store that has the cheaper item. Good luck! Its fun.

Which locations are you going to register at?
Most likely the Macy's at Roosevelt Field, I heard they have the good choices. And I probably the BBB right there as well.

Thats great that we can go online and fix things...I'm sure that will be useful.

Re: Registry help
we registered at macys, bbb and crate and barrel. bbb is our main registry and has any overlap.
they will give you a checklist and just go through and think about what you need. you can always edit things online and go back again if you want.
we registered this summer before our engagement party and then added more things (and took some off, changed others) more recently. i also changed things around a lot and added things online.
you can also go online to bbb and type in a really common last name and a first initial and pull up oother registires for ideas

I registered at the Macy's in Manhasset and they were AMAZING, but I heard they are great at the RF one too; They walked us through everything; I registered at the Westbury BBB and they were also really helpful there (hint: we went on a weeknight and had the place to ourselves, makes it SO much less overwhelming). Good Luck!!

Re: Registry help
I am registered at BBB and JcPenney. I LOVE JCPenney so that is why i choose them. They always have great deals and discounts going on, so I figured my guests would like that. BBB has an amazing return policy and the store is just so organized when it comes to the registry planning stuff. =) I felt a little overwhelmed at first, but after i just had to suck it up and dove into it and now im fine.
I am finding actually that I may just go with BBB and Williams-Sonoma for some more unique items. JcPenney is great, but i am finding that BBB carries similar products , cheaper.
Just start it somewhere and you will be fine. :)
Good luck.
