registry help
hiii everyone! so we started our registry at bed, bath, and beyond and the guy helping us kept trying to push the fine china on us. Did anyone not end up adding china to their registry? we're just starting out and have nothing for a house so I feel like I would rather have friends and family buy us necessities for the house.

We're not registering for fine china. We need too many other necessities, like you. Neither of us has ever lived outside our houses before, so we'll need everything lol. FMIL is giving me FHs great grandmothers fine china.. But even if she wasn't, it's not a necessity and there's nothing wrong with not registering for it. It never gets used anyway!!

Re: registry help
Does anyone use fine china anymore? Would just take up valuable cabinet space in our house. I started mine online and then went into the store. They left us alone. I'm doing the majority online and then going into the store if I want to look at the items.Don't feel pressured to register for something you don't want! Try to stick with items you're going to use often/everyday.

I am not planning on registering for fine china since I doubt we would ever use it, and currently live in a small apartment. My friend said that BBB also pressured them into feeling like they needed fine china and many other things, that they ended up taking off their registry later on. I guess it just depends on who you get at the store but, I agree to only register for what you want/think you'll use.

I was actually thinking about that today. I dont think I will be registering for fine china. It will probably only get used once a year maybe during Thanksgiving but I dont every year i will be having Thanksgiving.

We are similar to you ladies that well be just starting out in our own home and need pretty much everything so I am def not registering for fine china, i feel like the money people spend on that can be well spent on more essential items for the home. My grandmother did tell me she wants to give me her china, but even without that I wouldnt register for it. My SIL registered for china and they live in a small apartment and my parents are still storing it for her, a year and a half later

We had the same problem when we went to BBB. The lady there was very pushy and just made the whole boring for us. We couldn't really talk about things. I ended up having to come home and literally start from scratch. We then went to Target and just divided the stuff we wanted from both stores. We currently live in a basement but we're house hunting so we need a number of stuff. We've been really lucky to have already gotten some really great stuff from our friends and family. I say go with what makes you guys happy. Don't let store employees register for stuff they want.

I inherited my mother's china, so I don't need to buy any. The women at the registry in both our stores asked me about china. I told them I inherited it from my mom and that pretty much shut them up and/or they said 'ah, well that is what it's for.'

I agree-if you need to fill an entire house, it's probbaly not a smart idea to register for China. Unless you find you need more on the registry I wouldn't add them! Don't let the sales person pressure you- we actually told the woman at bbb that we didn't want her to walk around with us(as nicely as possible of course). As soon as we got back to her desk she tried pushing more expensive items on us.

We've owned our home for about a year and a half but are practically starting from scratch. At first I was completely against china for all of the reasons above, but then I fell in love with Mikasa Love Story, so I decided to get 24 settings of my everyday plates (which technically are 'fine' china too), and 8 settings of Mikasa love story. I have an enormous family and 24 settings will cover the adults if we have our parents/siblings over and kids can get paper. Then I figured the china would be perfect for a little dinner party since I love to entertain. They typically suggest to do it the opposite way, but my china is not dishwasher safe, so I will never use that for a huge party and 8 is just right!Oh PS my parents bought it for me like a week after I put it on there, just because. Now I have a special set that I can say they gave me and it will remind me of all the wonderful meals and parties they hosted too!

Same thing happened to us the other day! We originally registered for it because once upon a time people actually used it for special occasions but once we got home and thought about it we took it off! They also told us that it would be a good idea to get 12 sets!!!! Each set cost about $90 which is outrageous! I don't know many people that would spend that amount on a bridal shower gift nor would I want them to spend that much! We decided to put on more reasonably priced items that we will use almost every day knowing that most likely we would receive those from family and friends!!Welcome New Vendors
