also..we got mostly cash. the gifts were given as shower presents. And the large items we registered for a few of our friends chipped in an got them for us. You should register for things you want and if you don't end up getting them you can always get it for yourselfs later.

Re: Registry Help - Vacuum Cleaner Recommendation?
They have some in the $300 and $400 range.
I registered for it even though it was on the expensive end because it was the one I wanted. I figured people might chip in at my shower for it and if I didn't get it, at least I'd get a coupon at the end to get 10% off my unpurchased registry items.

I registered for an Electrolux, my mom has had one for as long as I can remember and just replaced it last year (at least 30 years later). It's $500.
FMIL has had her electrolux canister vacuum for over 20 years!!!! It works great!!
I have 2 vacuums in my house, one is an upright, and one is a canister.....the canister is soooooo much easier to manuever!

I vacuum once a week...because i shed like crazy.....and when i vacuumed with the dyson for the first time i almost threw up! I couldn't believe all the crap my other vacuum didn't pick up. Its soooo worth it!

the ones that they say are really great and last a long, long time are all about that much money-- that's the 'norm' believe it or not:

Is there a cheaper Electrolux?
I wanted to register for gifts in the $50-$200 range. I feel like $500 is way too high for a registry.
FYI: In our tradition, family members usually give us cash so the big gifts will be $, not from our registry. The registry is only for friends.
i felt like it was too much too but i just got my DYSON delivered to my house (shower didnt even happen yet!)

The Dyson suck$$$$$$. We have gone through two at my dad's house in two years-will never buy a Dyson. Our old hoover lasted 10 years.
