Re: REGISTRY:::: KNIFE SET
you can always register for the individual knives ... that way, someone might be more likely to sped the money
(keep the knife block too ... if someone buys both, just return one of them)

I second the Kuhn Ricon knives. Love them, and they are very inexpensive.

I don't think it's the expense. There is a superstition against buying knives for a bridal shower. The bride is not supposed to handle any knives/scissors/anything sharp.

Yeah my FH family so believes in that...but I hope I get them anyway...we registered for that same set.
BTW...his family believes if you give them money (like a penny) it 'counteracts' the bad karma from giving the knives...***?!?!?

That's true too, but some people feel she shouldn't touch knives at all and will not buy them for a shower.

Re: REGISTRY:::: KNIFE SET
Wusthof and Henckles are good knives. However, according to consumer reports, this is also a really good set Forschner by Victorinox 3-Piece Chef's Knife Set.. its I think 80 bucks... you can also buy them seperately.. It got good reviews..
I registered for a block set at Macys and the forschner piece at BBB Usually the 3 piece knife sets are what people use more than the other knives, imo. HTH!

Re: REGISTRY:::: KNIFE SET
First of all, if you're registered at BBB, the knife registry incentives are great (Analon, Calphalon, Henckles & Shun).
As for knives, I find that if I have one good chef's or santoku knife and a paring knife, you're set. I'd register for an affordable block and then check out Marshall's, Home Goods or TJ for a couple of Henckles. They're usually under $20.
If you want one really awesome inexpensive knife...Forschner (Victorinox) Fibrox 8-Inch Chef's Knife, Model 40520. Its about $25 but you can find it for less.
As far as sharpeners go, check out the Accu-Sharp at Ace Hardware for less than $10...the best!
