when you go to the store you want to register for they will give you a check list.

you probably will need kitchen utensils, pots, pans, plates, silverware, vacuum , bedding, bathroom towels and accessories.

I'd suggest going to Bed, Bath, and Beyond. They are so helpful there and at their registry center, there are people who can assist you throughout your entire shopping experience. Thats what we did and they were great. They have a book with barcodes to scan all the different utensils you will need one after the other instead of having to hunt around in the store. Not sure if you wanted to register there, but you can get so much of what you'll need there in one store. HTH!
