My mom says I shouldn't do a registry and put on the invitation, 'monetary gifts preferred.' I think that is soooo tacky and want to do a registry to give people the option between giving money and purchasing a gift. FH and I have been living together almost 3 years and the apartment is completely furnished. We want to buy a house soon after the wedding and I don't think it makes sense to carry all the gifts with us to a new home. What should I do?

Thank you ladies so much! Advice taken. One more question... I went to a wedding where on the invitation there was an account number for Bank of America that was created for monetary gifts. I'm assuming this was so the bride wouldn't have to carry cash and checks around all night with the possibility of losing it. She also had her registry listed as well. Is this ok?
OMG! nooooooooooooo...that's even worse than asking for monetary gifts. you might as well put a printed deposit slip in with the invite.
yikes, ITA...don't put any mention of anything gift related on the wedding invite! especially a bank account number

Ok I get it. Don't mention money, accounts, or anything money related.

Re: Registry or Not?
We don't need anything for our home...we've been living together for 4+ years. We'll be registering for a honeymoon.
That said, we're still going to register for a handful of things at BBB for the more old-fashioned people who feel funny giving monetary gifts or don't understand the honeymoon registry. Some folks just prefer to pick something off a registry and be done with it. And in the grand scheme of things, it will be nice to have the Bissel vaccum or KitchenAid that we've WANTED for years but just never got because it was a waste of money I know most people will just give money or honeymoon gifts...I'd just prefer to let people be comfortable and have options.

Your website is AWESOME! I would love to do something like that. Did you get it professionally done or did you do that yourself? I just don't think I'm computer saavy enough to conquer that battle. The honeymoon registry is a terrific idea, I may just try it. Thanks!

Re: Registry or Not?
OMG NO NO NO NO. Please do not write ANYTHING about a gift anywhere on your wedding invite.
That is what a shower is for..

Thanks so much!!!!!! Honeyfund offers the template for $30 and that's all you need to spend, they don't take money from you and you can book with who ever you want. We got a great deal from cruise compete so we booked with our travel agent from there and we created the registry!!! It's really easy to create too!!! You can just go with the regular one, but that has ads on it. Good luck if you have any questions FM me!!!!!
