Registry Poll for those w/ a large amount of OOT family/friends

Okay, we have a lot of OOT family/friends, and I will be having a shower here and a shower at my mom's (in Illinois).

As of now, I have registered at 4 stores

Fortunoffs (for NY)
Macys (for NY and SC-where my Dad is)
Kohls (for IL)
Bed, Bath and Beyond (for all over)

Now, I want to knock out one, and was going to knock out Fortunoffs, b/c the stuff from there is available at Macys, and Fortunoffs is only in NY.

HOWEVER, I LOVE the way Fortunoffs does their baskets and wraps their gifts, and it's FREE!

If you had to chose to have Macys or Fortunoffs, which would you choose and why??

I would keep Macy's. We registered at Fortunoff's and found their items to be very overpriced and the service was bleh. Nothing special. Plus, as pretty as the wrapping is...you're not keeping the wrapping - it's going in the trash. Macy's offers free gift wrapping for registries too, it might not be as pretty...but I think your guests will appreciate saving money. Plus, your OOT guests can shop at Macy's - the same can't be said of Fortunoff's.

I thought I heard a rumor that Macy's is buying out Fortunoff so I would stick with Macy's? Anyone know if that is true?

I would choose Fortuneoff.
I dunno, for some reason, every time I tried to buy things off a registry at Macys, I've had a problem.....Unless I'm just goin to the wrong Macys'?
I also found it easier at Fortuneoff-and the salespeople help you better.

I know Macy's (Federated Dept. Stores) has bought out a lot of other chains, so they'll be changing to Macy's making it even easier for OOT to buy gifts there. Last I heard this was supposed to happen around the holiday season or early 2006. Not sure if Fortunoff is part of it or not though.

I registered at fortunoff and bed, bath & beyond. BBB is everywhere so even my OOT can go there, but fortunoff you can shop online so even my OOT guests can get me things from there. I just really liked Fortunoff's things over Macy's. But that's just me.

I think Macys its easier to get to than Fortunoff

Federated Company (which is part of Macy's) already bought May Company... Which does not include Fortunoff's...

Why not just register at both???

I registered at Fortunoffs, I really don't know why... I think b/c I hate going to Roosevelt Field... and never want to go to the Herald Square one after work...

But I know lots of people always just buy things where ever and call the store to take it off the registry... Like Bed Bath and Beyond... They always send 20% off coupons, so my friend always goes there and then just goes to Fortunoff right after and takes it off the registry... I guess that's a pretty good idea now that I think of it.

I voted for Fortunoff because everything I registered for there was cheaper than it was at Macy's. honestly, most of our OOTers bought their stuff online anyway and shipped it, so for us, it wouldn't have made a difference how convenient the stores were.
