Registry question

If someone makes purchases from your registry and also buys items at the same time that were not on your registry, do they all of a sudden get added on? I was just checking my williams sonoma registry and items are showing up that say I requested 0 but received 1. The reason I am asking this is because I don't know if it is an error where the store put items in for the wrong registry or if these are items I received- so confused!
