this will probably sound dumb but how do you know whats been bought off your registry? i was looking and it had 3 columns 'desired, purchased, total quantity'. if someone bought something already the purchased column would be checked or something, rigth?

Not a silly question...how many times have we all had a registry before this, right?
I think that each store may vary slightly but ultimately they are the same. Fortunoff, for example, lists quantity registered for and quantity needed. So if I have 12 place settings the registered column will say 12 but if someone buys three sets then the needed column will say 9. If someone buys all 12 the needed column will say 0.
