What would you say the average prices of things on your registry are? Do you have a lot of items over $100? $200 even? Are most things around $50 or under? between $50 and $100?
I thought I was being really thoughtful about not letting things get too ridiculously expensive, but still getting really nice quality stuff...
But then... FH's cousin is getting married, and I took a look at her registry, and the stuff on there is WAY cheaper than the stuff on ours. Like, I'd say very few items are over $50. Her entire cookware set of 17 pieces is only $129! Mine is at least twice that for 13 pieces... And it's not a location thing, because she is also getting married on Long Island (she may even be a bride here, I don't know!)
So, now I'm wondering if I'm being too extravagant... I mean, my parents keep telling me to have a lot of expensive items because they think people will want to spend that much, and I feel really strongly about getting high quality items that will last me a lifetime, and that usually means paying more for them... And I've also made sure that there are plenty of less expensive items so that nobody feels they HAVE to spend more.
So... I'm curious to see where my registry fits in price range with other people's registries. Anybody?

Re: registry $$$ question
My average was approx $90.
I can tell you though, the gifts I received with either under $50 or over $200.
Only a handful of people purchased something that was around $100.

Re: registry $$$ question
we have items ranging from $1.99 up to $200. most things within the $50 or under range. i remember when i registered, the girl told us not to 'mind prices,' but i'm not the type who can do that. so i tried to keep things in a moderate range. we have plenty of inexpensive little things, but also a good amount of items in the $25-75 range.
honestly, don't put a lot of stress on it. everyone is different. if you are used to spending a little more on things (and that same goes for your family & friends), then leave it as is. there's nothing wrong with it! after all, we only get married once! (hopefully!)

Re: registry $$$ question
I am like Melissa. I had things from .99 (kitchen accessories) to $329 (my kitchenaid mixer) on my registry. But the crux of the stuff ranged between $50-$100. My mother told me that is what people like to spend. And she was right. I did get the exspenive stuff too, but they were group gifts.
And I did get the kitchenaid mixer...from my step mother in law, I love it. The funny thing was that my mom yelled at me for even putting it on my registry.
My SIL really aggravated people b/c she had a registry with Target and she put things on it like big screen tv's and ipods.

Re: registry $$$ question
ours varies...
had to register for the artisan mixer, which is $269 - our pots and pans are about the same...
then we have some appliances -
then the other smaller stuff for $50 and under.
I have had to buy gifts off registry's where the bride had the cheapest thing at $100 - and I think its rude.
I would do a range of items.

cheapest at $100? Wow! That's insane!
I do have a lot of $100+ items (all my cookware, my fine china, etc), but I definitley have a decent range under $100, from $3 spoons to things in the $75-$99 range like various kitchen electrics, etc.

Re: registry $$$ question
we tried to do as big a range as possible - a lot of kitchen gadgets ($2-$10) right on up to my pot and pan set which was $575.
Maybe FH's cousing dosen't know what is good quality. I don't cook and bought a set that I thought was great quality. Except I didn't think about the METAL handles getting hot. So now I need an oven mit just to move the pot!
But I think average is 1.99 to 200.00$
Don't worry bc people will buy you what thay can afford anyway.

True, there's definitely a quality difference, and I feel really strongly about getting things that will last us a long time. I keep trying to explain this FH about why some of our stuff is on the expensive side... sigh.

Re: registry $$$ question
i think you have to have a mix of items at all price ranges, i have $5 to $500 - my set of pots that i know close family will buy us, remember also the store you register at can also determine the price of the items

Re: registry $$$ question
i have a broad range of price...something for everyones budget i guess. The way I look at it, if it's something you want, REGISTER FOR IT! if someone gets it they get it, and if they dont they dont!

I agree.
A lot of people chip in with others on gifts and if you don't get it, most places will give you a coupon to buy all unpurchased registry items after the wedding takes place.
My items range from $5-$500 (vaccuum cleaner).

We had things that were very inexpensive, and then very expensive....people buy such a variety of stuff that I wouldn't worry.

Re: registry $$$ question
My registry had a range from the dollar items to around 250 - I think it is better to have a good range because there are plenty of people that want to buy you the nice expensive gifts and others who want to get the more practical gifts. I received most of my very good items. I wouldn't worry about it as long as you have a range - if everything was over $100 than i think you should be concerned otherwise don't worry about other brides and get what you want.
