Registry question...

Registry question...

When we registered the man told us to register for 400 items. We registered for 320 as of right now and they range in price from a $6 serving spoon to big ticket items. We basically put everything we could want on there but I'm starting to get nervous.....my shower invite list is 75 people and if am am afraid of getting some of the 'extras' and not getting necessities like our dishes, pots, glasses etc.

How many items did you ladies register for???

I thin I have around the same as you. I'm registered at BB&B so if I buy whatever people don't then I get 20% off everything so it's not that bad.

That's strange that they put a number on how much you had to register for. I registered in two different places... one of the places told me to register for a certain amount of money just to get a gift but we could take whatever we wanted off of the list after we went home...

We only registered for about 100 items. The woman suggested we register for more, but we really only registered for what we needed since we live in a super small apartment.I go back and forth adding and deleting items.

We registered at bb&b for about 170 items and sandals for like 4 excursions.

We only registered for 80-ish items and I've had people already tell me that's not enough. But I added what I felt we needed (plus a few things we just plain wanted). We have a lot of relatively new stuff and I'm not going to have somebody purchase a knife block set when ours is only a few years old. I think 400 items is a lot for anyone, to be honest, and you can definitely take off things that you feel are just 'extra.'

If you have something on your registry you're unsure of or really don't want I'd go ahead and remove it. As long as you have items with a price range, which you indicated you do, I think you're ok. Some people are likely to give you money anyways I would think.

I have 198 items on my registry and I still have a bit left and the shower is saturday- We are expecting about 65 people at the shower as well. I personally think you have alot registered, but if its like one wooden spoon and one spatula and stuff as single items then the number doesn't seem that bad..

I do feel like that is alot of items though, and I've noticed that if people have alot of smaller items, guests will go out and buy all of the little things, like chip clips and can openers and potato mashers, and stuff like your vacuum, your duvet cover, down comforter, and all of the bigger items might not get bought... to me, I'd rather have my vacuum than a bunch of little kitchen gadgets that I can buy myself at TJ Maxx :)

also, BBB and macy's say to register for twice the amount of gifts as guests, so if you're expecting 200 people they say to register for 400 gifts. But keep in mind, this is because they are assuming your wedding gifts will be from your registry. In other states, that is normal, but around here most people write checks as wedding gifts and won't buy you a registry gift. so I would keep it at registering for about the amount of people you have invited to your wedding, so around 200 is probably a good number

we registered for about 450-500 things. Honestly though neither of us had ever lived alone so when we moved in together we took over my sisters college house stuff so we don't even have a set of matching dishes or silverware. I think we registered for like 300 at Macys and 200 at bed bath and beyond. Remember though, it adds up when you register for china- for example we have 12 place settings, 12 pasta bowls, 12 accent plates, and all the matching pieces- that right there is almost 100 things. plus your glasses and every day dishes are 'multiples' and those add up too. I like as a guest having things to choose from so I say keep it, just delete what isn't something you'd really want.

I also wanted to add, I have had my registry done for a while so some of those gifts were purchased for my birthday & christmas.

I registered for about 150 - between 2 different registries. And most of the stuff is almost all gone. So I think the more the better? If you don't get something you really want you can always return what you did get and wasn't too fond of.
