Registry Question and mini rant!

Registry Question and mini rant!

Ok so yesterday we registered at Bed Bath and Beyond. The lady helping us told us they had a lot of our items that are on our Fortunoff registry.
She said she would add the items to our BBB registry to have it double exposed. Has anyone else done this?
Also, she added 'similar' items to the BBB registry that were not the exact same item we had registered at Fortunoffs for. I was a little mad when I came home and saw this online and had to adjust and delete what she added! I feel it was unprofessional for her to add 'similar' but not the same item without our approval.

Anyone else have an experience like this!?

I haven't experienced this but I also registered at Fortunoff and today FH and I are going to Bed, Bath, and Beyond so I will definitely let you know.

I added some items that were duplicates, but they were exact. I have never heard that they would add items for you. I think that it is rude for them to do it it wasn't an exact match. When we went to the BBB in Westbury. The woman was overly helpful (almost annoying). We could not wait to shake her and do our own thing!!

i didn't have this experience but I found that Fortunoff had more of what I was looking for. When I went the woman told me that I had to add more things because it effects their store.

I do think it's rude and definitely unprofessional.

The lady helping us in Sayville was overly helpful too. We said yes that she could add the same items such as our Vera Lace china, but then when I got home I saw she added these blue drinking glasses that did not look the same as the fortunoffs ones and the foldable snack tables we had at Fortunoffs were a dark espresso wood, she added foldable snack tables but they are in a light wood. I don't know. I am just so mad at this, because now I have to scruntinize the online list and delete items she added when...
usually we have to go online and delete the silly things our FH added on!

First i would never mirror a registry from another store then you will end up getting doubles of things. That was abad suggestion. If i were you go into your registry & take off everything she mirrored from the Fortunoff registry. Just keep the things you didnt seein fortunoff & thats it!!! That was acrazy suggestion unless you lan on getting rid of the Fortunoff registry all together. But i still feel its best to be at two places. Some have things you like better then the other store.

We registered at BBB and the person assigned to us was very overzealous. Maybe they get a commission based off of what is sold so the goal is to register you for a lot of stuff? We took the scanner and just did it all ourselves and finished stuff up online later, because she wanted us to just work down her checklist without any regard for what we actually wanted/needed. We didn't want to register for fine china there, and she took us there first, didn't even give us the scanner, and told us to figure out what we wanted. After 10 minutes, I found her and just asked for the scanner and we roamed the store alone.

wow, that's a little weird! the only experience i had that came close was that we wanted to CLOSE our fortunoff registry (we currently live OOT, too hard for us with returns, and too hard for many of our guests) and switch our china over to BBB. the woman transferred the china over for us while we made the rest of our registry.

i think it's really obnoxious that she added anything you didnt ask for. i would call the manager and complain.

finally, i think cross-listing is ok for items you want a lot of, like place settings etc but not for anything else. you also will need to registry stalk. we cross-listed our place settings of china, and our vegetable bowls.... that way people could buy at either and we could adjust the 'amount needed' as things were purchased. we had one place setting purchased at Macy's, and 11 at BBB.

We found that most people purchased from BBB, very few from Macy's and OOTers liked Crate & Barrel. To be honest, I think you're better off putting as much as possible on BBB but only if they have comparable items you like

lol I went to the westbury one too and the lady followed us around the store telling us everything to register for, I was like no I don't need that, no I have that already. I felt bad to tell her to leave so we just dealt with it

Oooohhhh I am so sorry!! I probably would have strangled her if she stayed with us!! j/k

You must have the patience of a saint!!!

I politetly told her that if we had any questions that we would run over and get her!!

that's insane! we did out registry online because FH doesn't have the time to be wandering around the store.

i can't believe someone would do that. she seems CRAZY!

That's crazy. I don't understand why she would go into your registry. We registered at BBB and the guy talked to us about how we shouldn't let anyone know our registry password because sometimes people go in and change things.

Although I don't know nor understand why she would go in and edit your registry without your permission . I did a lot of double registering. Some people might find it more convenient to go to one store vs another. BBB has a great return policy so you can always return any doubles there without questions.

When we signed up at BBB we had to write down the password in the paperwork for their website, so it's not like she asked for it directly nor did I realize she was going to go too far!

So it's all fixed now and I will see how I can change the password!

Also, as for double registering I like some of the ideas from everyone. Maybe I will keep my china on both bc I can always return to BBB no questions asked or I can also go in and alter the # needed in the registry as time goes on.
