I would say the only downfall to registering now is that some stuff will become discontinued. You would just have to update your registry for those items. Other than that I do not see a problem. We are getting married in Oct and we started to register in Feb. 07

I would def say to early for an 08 wedding because styles change. More like a year to nine months before is good.

we registered about 8 months before our wedding...we registered in October of last year. we did get lots of stuff for Christmas too that was off our registry

we registered in august, and our wedding is in july! we didn't register for things we felt might be discontinued though, like bedding & towels...
also, we ordered our BM dresses in january (for the july wedding) and they came in last month.... it was too early for fittings they said, so we'll be planning those for may -- hth!

Exactly what I was going to say. I went to register 10mths before the wedding and the guy that helped us in the store said that the only problem may be that some of the items may become discontinued..but if you decide to do it now just keep up on the registry..you may have to end up adding and deleting some of the items..

Not at all. You should put a few things on the registry. Some people will want to give you something for an engagement gift.

We started up our registry about 11 months before, we just kept going backa nd adding on little by litte. It could get overwhelimng, We still have to pick out pots,a nd evryday dinner plates. We are doing that tomorrow night,a nd we are done. But yesterday as i was looking online ta the registry i saw thats omeone purchased all our bathroom coordinates, so that made me say oh boy better really finish this.
